I would like to talk about an invention, in my opinion, that has been making our

life easier and simpler: the Internet. It started in the 1960s as a way for government
researchers to share information. Official birthday was 1983.
With internet connectivity, we can send messages, make video calls immediately
with family and friends. As a result of this, we can communicate and work with
other people across different parts of the world, which provides many with the
ability to work from home or have a virtual office. Furthermore, the
Internet contains an enormous amount of knowledge. We can use a search engine
/ˈendʒin/ like Google to ask any question and find a web page with an answer and
information about that question. Last but not least, the Internet provides people
with access to endless entertainment. With this invention, we can watch movies,
videos, play games online, and listen to music. For example, we can watch millions
of videos on a platform like YouTube without paying any costs.
On the other hand, social media has provided a platform for cyberbullying. There
are more and more individuals can hide behind the anonymity /ӕnəˈniməti/ of
screens to tease others and do anything they want. They bully others by sending
them derogatory photographs and videos, as well as mocking them. Besides, they
also make other individuals feel uncomfortable by making unpleasant remarks or
sharing personal information without their consent. As a consequence, victims feel
miserable, depressed, anxiety and even suicidal at an early age. Moreover, it can
harm to people’health when they spend a lot of time for internet. It can cause
obesity , eye-strain, short-sighted.
In conclusion, the internet has greatly benefited people in different ways. Although
it has some negative aspects, it can be handled if people know how to use it wisely.
