What does contamination mean?

The process of making something dirty or poisonous, or the state of containing

unwanted or dangerous substances

Type of pollution

1.-Wáter pollution: Water pollution is the contamination of bodies of water, usually as a result
of human activities. Water pollution occurs when pollutants mix with these bodies of water.

2.-Soil pollution: Soil pollution or land contamination as part of land degradation is caused by the
presence of chemicals or other disturbances in the natural soil environment. It is usually caused by

industrial activity, agricultural chemicals, or improper waste disposal.

3.-Light pollution: Increase in the background brightness of the natural night sky, due

to the dispersion and reflection of light from artificial lighting.

Light pollution is caused by artificial light, such as streetlights. Although street
lighting and other forms of artificial light

4.-Radioactive contamination: Radioactive contamination, also called radiological

contamination, is the deposition or presence of radioactive substances on surfaces
or within solids, liquids or gases

5.-Air pollution: It is the presence in it of chemical, physical or biological agents

that alter the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.
Consequences:
1.- Destruction of biodiversity
-Contamination of the food chain.
-Shortage of drinking water
-Diseases
-Child mortality.
2.-Damage to health.
-Worse crops.
-Climate change.
-Water and air pollution.
-Population displacements.
-Disappearance of species.
-Desertification impact on the economy
3.- It can disorient migratory birds, interfere with the hunting
patterns of some predators, or affect the respiration and
photosynthesis cycles of some plants.
4.- can affect the functioning of organs and tissues, and
produce acute effects such as skin redness, hair loss, or
radiation burns
5.- may increase the risk of respiratory infections, heart
disease, stroke, and lung cancer
Countries facing problema
The three countries that pollute the most are precisely the most populous and
industrialized in the world: China, the United States and India,

Reflection
“We all have the obligation to care for and protect the planet,
we must all take care of our common goods. Taking care of
nature is taking care of people too. Let us respect their life
cycles and contribute to ensuring that the world's immense
biological diversity is maintained and prospers."
On the day of our home, which many call "mother", we need,
above all, to pay attention to what we have done so far and
what we are going to do from that moment on to build a
healthier future. We must raise awareness about the negative
impact that pollution has on the environment and the
importance of preserving biodiversity and environmental
responsibility.
