(The teacher gives an example of library
cards to the students and asks the following
questions.)

Do you know what are these Grade 7?

Indeed. These cards are what we used to

look for a book in the library right?

Nowadays we have what we call OPAC

Online Public Access Catalog. It is a
website where you can search for books
and other things in a library.

By the way, do you know the names of

these cards?

If not then let us find out.

C. DISCUSSION
Grade 7, thus are what we call catalog
cards. The purpose of the card catalog was
to provide library users with multiple ways
to search for books.
Now let us scrutinize the first catalog card.

What is an author card?

If, for example, a library user asks for

books by John Smith, you can only find out
whether they are available in your library
by looking up 'Smith, John' in the author
catalog. The author catalog is the main
instrument for the librarian to find out
whether a work by a given author already
exists in the library.

Next is the title card, please read the

definition grade 7.

Thank you. As you can see in the example

the title of the book is listed, then the
author’s name, publishing information and
subjects.
Last is the subject card. So, what is a
subject card?

D. GENERALIZATION
To summarize what are the catalog cards
that we learned?

Exactly! What is the information on the

cards that we can find can you enumerate
them also?

Great! What else?

That’s it put that in your mind. And if we

say author card the author’s last name is
printed on top of the card. Same as to the
Title card and subject card.
