Storyboard & Artist Intention Statement

A storyboard is used by a filmmaker to plan the important shots of a film. It’s used to help both the crew and the actors know how everything should look in a sequence. A storyboard is very similar to a comic book;
there are panels of drawings that also feature important speech, sound effects and musical cues. Your storyboard needs to show each important part of your animation and each frame should be annotated with:

● Shot type (close-up, medium shot, long-shot)

● Angle (high, medium, low)
● Shot duration (length of time)
● Any important audio (sounds)

Task 3: First, outline answers in PURPLE & second, Write Artist Intention Statement Below. This can be refined after creating the Storyboard in Task 4, below.

Aspects of Film Noir: Goal: Audience Key Scenes & Characters:

Artist Statement: Statement Of Inquiry (SOI):

What are the codes, conventions and characteristics of an experimental film and Avante Garde film?

Both types of films challenge the traditional method of film-making and value the meaning and style of the film more than how it would normally be received by the audience.
These films like to test the boundaries of film-making and make great use of unconventional techniques.

What's the purpose of an experimental film?

The purpose of experimental film is to test the boundaries of film-making to create something new or unique.

To what extent does experimental films tell a story?

Experimental films often abandoned the idea of traditional film or story making which sometimes leaves audiences confused however they still manage to convey a great message and story.

Explain your chosen idea. What are you creating? Explain what will be featured in your film; for example: scenes, characters, text, music, sound.
What kind of feeling and/or message should your film give to its audience? Is there an attitude you want your design to convey? Does the feeling of your film reflect those of any other films you were inspired by?
How will you use Film Conventions (shot sizes/camera angles/sound/text) to convey these feelings?
How long will the clip be?
How will you create the film clip? (Animation, software name, video on phone, editing software)

Our studio, Team femme fatale, consists of 4 members, Zaara Travadi, writer, and cinematographer, Ffion Collins, writer, and director, Aadya Tiwari, writer, editor and actor, and Aditi Ganesh, actor and writer. We will be producing a
film noir film for people aged 16-16 and it is meant for all genders. The film will take place in a New York apartment and will include 2 characters who are Asteria - a high profile criminal who is in her mid-twenties,and Iris - an important
detective who has been tracking Asteria for months, she is also in her mid-twenties. Iris has been tracking Asteria for months because she is suspected of murdering people who have had some form of connection with her. All these
people have done something terrible cruel to Asteria in the past and she killed them as her form of revenge. However, for months nothing could be blamed on her without hard evidence. Until Iris decided to take up the case and find out
more. Prior to the movie, Iris met Asteria at a charity gala and spoke to her. Iris could not believe a woman who was responsible for the deaths of many people was donating millions to children. Iris becomes confused about Asteria and
spends some time thinking about her while trying to think of her motives for murder. Meanwhile Asteria has figured out that Iris is a detective and tries to lure her into a trap. Asteria sends Iris an anonymous tip about where she leaves.
This is where the movie begins with Asteria in her home in which Iris bursts in. Iris tries to convince Asteria to come quietly but Asteria has a gun which she uses to shoot at the detective and escape. She misses and Iris manges to
catch up to her and kills her in the end in the alleyway. Iris feels regret for killing her but knows it had to be done. The movie begins with light jazz music being played in the background while Asteria applies lipstick. We used a medium
shot to zone into a long shot in this scene. The room is dimly lit. The next scene shows Iris with an over the shoulder shot waiting to brush Into Asteria’s home. The rest of the shots include medium shots, some zoom ins and outs and
long shots. The sound effects include gunshot, heels clicking on the floor and doors slamming. The first few scenes will be conducted in a dimly lit room while the last scene is in a dimly lit alleyway. The scene starts off as quite tense
but shifts to a sense of urgency and alarming tension when Asteria pulls out her gun and tries to escape. The overall clip will be between 2-3 minutes long. It will be filmed using the iphone cameras. The film will be edited using Capcut
software.
