In this video, Scott Thornbury introduced his seven favorite language teaching
methods, including the Mastery system, the Oral method, the Reading method,
Community language learning, Crazy English, Task-based language teaching, and
"Your method"; and then he emphasized each of their effective takeaways in
teaching. One of those which I was impressed the most with is "Your method". It
means teachers do not depend on one particular teaching method but can craft their
own methods from their experience, context, and listening to their students' needs as
long as these methods are coherent combinations of techniques and principles.
Furthermore, Dr.Scott also mentioned that no single methods fit all kinds of contexts.
These methods always develop apart from one or two.
