WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT?
Time management involves planning, arranging, and setting goals to improve people's use
of time.

It involves avoiding distractions like iPads, TV, and video games when trying to complete an
assignment.

Time management helps to break down more challenging activities into easier-to-handle
parts, which allows people to make better choices, make more progress and avoid stress.

Tools like calendars, checklists, to-do lists, alarm clocks, and post-it notes can help people
be more organized and achieve their goals before a deadline or due dates.
HOW CAN STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR ATTENDANCE
AT PS 279 BY USING TIME MANAGEMENT?

▪ Get a good night's rest.

▪ Prepare your outfit the night before.

▪ Tryto protect yourself and others from getting

sick.

▪ Set an alarm clock.

▪ Ask your parent/guardian to help you wake

up on time and find a way to bring you to
school (Ex: by car, train or bus) so that you
arrive at PS 279 at 8 a.m.
THE CASE STUDY OF SARAH
Sarah is a second-grade student who is absent or late to
school twice a week because she wakes up late after
watching TV all night after eating dinner with her four
siblings and her parents at 7 pm. Sometimes, Sarah’s
mother allows her to stay in bed all day or drives Sarah
to school late. When Sarah wakes up to be on time for
school, she usually loses track of time in the shower,
brushing her teeth, looking for an outfit, or doing her
hair. When Sarah comes to school, she often feels
confused about the class assignments and is too shy to
ask her classmates or teachers for help. Sarah has few
friends and sometimes chooses not to play with other
students during recess. How can Sarah manage her time
to improve her attendance at school?
