Introduction to MS Word:
Microsoft Word or MS Word is developed by Microsoft. Anything that you type and store
using MS Word is called a document.
Creating a new blank document:
Whenever you open the MS Word program, a new blank document is
automatically created.
The Caps Lock key is a toggle key. Meaning, when pressed once, it will turn on
and you can type letters in uppercase. When it is pressed again, it turns off and
then the letters get typed in lowercase.
You may need to type only a few letters in uppercase. In that you can keep the
shift key pressed while typing.
Typing numbers:
The keys with numbers from 0 to 9 on the keyboard are called as number keys.
There are two sets of number keys on the keyboard. One set is on the top and
the other is on the right side of the keyboard.
The group of number keys on the right side of the keyboard is also called the
numeric keypad.
You can type numbers using the numeric keypad only when the Num Lock is
turned on.
Undo and Redo commands:
The Undo command is used to reverse the last action done in the document. The
shortcut keys for Undo is Ctrl + Z
The Redo command helps you to reverse an Undo command. The shortcut keys
for Redo is Ctrl + Y
Deleting typed text:
You can erase the text typed in your document by using either the Delete key
or the Backspace key on the keyboard. Erasing text is also called deleting.
The Delete key deletes text to the right of the cursor position.
The Backspace key deletes text to the left of the cursor position.
Saving a document:
The Save button is used to save a document.
SAVE
