Introduction
TRSDC have installed two weather stations for the continuous environmental and weather monitoring of The Red Sea
Project. The weather stations are located on the new inland Airport site and at Quman Island in the center of the lagoon.

Weather data have been collected since February 1st 2023 for the Airport and Quman weather stations.

The collected data from the two weather stations includes the following readings:

• Wind speed at 2m and 10m

• Wind direction at 2m and 10m
• Air temperature
• Relative humidity
• Cloud measurement
• Solar radiation
• Volumetric water content
• Electrical conductivity
• Sunshine duration sensor
• Barometric pressure
• Soil temperature
• Dew point temperature
• Wet bulb temperature
• Heat index
• Wind chill and humidity ratio
The collected data is attached to the annexures of this report. In the subsequent sections of this report, the collected data
of wind speed, air temperature, relative humidity, and wet bulb temperature of the two weather stations are summarized
in tables and plotted in graphs to show the weather conditions and the weather trend during the month.

month of February 2023.

The maximum air temperature reading was 33.8 °C which took place on 28 February 2023. The minimum air
temperature was found to be 10.9 °C on 16 February 2023.

The maximum relative humidity reading was 87 % on 1 February 2023 while the minimum was 5.6 % found
on 27 February 2023.

The maximum wet bulb temperature reading was 20.8 °C on 28 February 2023 while the minimum was 7.2 °C
occurred on 9 February 2023.

3.0 Al Wajeh Data Comparison

3.1 Monthly Comparison with Al Wajeh (ASHRAE) Data

In this section, the dry bulb (DB) and wet bulb (WB) temperature readings from Quman island and the Airport were
compared to the available ASHRAE 2017 weather data for the closest location to the project site (Al Wajeh). The values
taken from ASHRAE were the 0.4% monthly peak for the month of February. The 0.4% value in ASHRAE means that the
temperatures in a month for that location will exceed design value for about 0.4% of the time. For a month, this is
approximately 3 hours. Therefore, the third highest value of the daily readings of the two weather stations were
considered in the comparison. The mean coincident wet bulb (MCWB) and mean coincident dry bulb (MCDB)
temperatures are the maximum corresponding temperature in each case.

Table 3. Comparison of 0.4% monthly Design Dry Bulb and Mean Coincident Wet Bulb Temperatures between ASHRAE and
Weather Stations Readings

With the data extracted from table 3, the percent differences between the DB temperatures of the Al Wajeh ASHRAE data
and each of those belonging to Quman and the airport are 0.8% and 12% respectively. The DB associated with Quman is
negligibly lower than the reference while that of the airport is borderline significantly higher. As for the MCWB readings,
the percent differences associated with Quman and the airport are 7.5% and 7.9% respectively. Both differences are
negligible, noting that both readings are lower than the reference.

Table 4. Comparison of 0.4% Monthly Design Wet Bulb and Mean Coincident Dry Bulb Temperatures Between ASHRAE and
Weather Stations Readings

Additionally, table 4 was used to calculate the percent difference associated with the WB and MCDB for both Quman and
the airport with the Al Wajeh ASHRAE data being the reference. Quman had a nonsignificant difference in WB of 9.8% and
the airport had a significant difference of 18.2%, with both WBs being lower than the reference. The differences in the
MCDB for Quman and the airport compared to the reference are 11.1% and 21.2% respectively. Note that the MCDB for
Quman is borderline significantly higher while the MCDB for the airport is significantly higher.
