13

Fig. 3.14

Having verified that the gripper (6) picks up the

cards correctly, loosen the nut (14) and move 6 10
the dowel (15) to about 0.5 inches from the base
(16) of the gripper.
Press “Start” to perform the embossing test. After
the test, the carriage will carry out one return
stroke up to the point of obscuring the photocell
(10).

15

14
18 16

Fig. 3.15

At this point the carriage brings the cards inside

the tipper unit (11) where coloring takes place. 11
Then the carriage reaches the card ejection
area. To adjust, use the keyboard to increase
and/or decrease the strokes in the “X-total” in
order to center the card inside the exit hopper.
Then, once centering with the exit hopper has
been achieved, loosen the nut (12) and position
the adjuster dowel (17) about 0.5 inches from
the carriage support (18).

3 SETTINGS

With the aid of a gauge, check embossing from

the edge of the card (point 0), which should be
as follows:
6 mm on the “X” axis.
11 mm on the “Y” axis.
If this is not the case, use the keypad to change
the “X EMBOSS” and “Y EMBOSS” parameter
settings from the mechanical parameters menu. L L
N.B.: An increase or decrease of one step on the
“X axis” corresponds to a shift of 0.36 mm.
An increase or decrease of one step on the “Y
axis” corresponds to a shift of 0.25 mm.
Check if the card is encountering problems
during the discarding phase, in moving inside
the tipper. If so, change “Y TIP” in the mechanical L L
parameters menu.

3.18 CHIP CONTACTOR CALIBRATION

After mounting and connecting the contactor

(1) (as described in section 2.11), ensure that the
3
machine setup is as follows:
X chip: +00
In this manner, the plastic card will always stop
precisely under sensor FC7.
It is possible that the card may not stop at the
contactor (1). Should this occur, do not make
any changes in the machine setup - a much
better solution consists in placing a thicknessing
ring in front between block (2) and the support
(3) of the unit attachment.
In this latter case, the contactor will necessitate 1 2
re-calibration, to be performed in the following
manner:
1. Put the machine in the pause mode. Fig. 3.27

2. Launch Card Test 9.

4
3. Press start to have the card move under the
contactor and then place a piece of carbon
5
paper in front.
4. Press start again so that the contactor will
descend (in the event that it is already in the 6
lowered position, repeat the procedure
manually).
5. Unload the card and check whether the
markings from the contacts are correct on
the CHIP.
In the event that you want to position the
contactor lower, unscrew nut (4) and adjust nut
(5).

THE SPINDLE (6) IS SECURED WITH A

BONDING AGENT. THEREFORE, IT
SHOULD NOT BE MOVED. Fig. 3.28
