4 TROUBLE SHOOTING
E-00 POWER ON STAND BY This message appears when the machine is switched on and informs the
STATUS - PRESS START operator that power is being supplied to the machine. To begin operation,
the operator should press the START key on the front panel.
E-01 OUT OF CARDS- PRESS This message signals that the loader is out of cards. Add cards to conti-
START OR FEED nue operation. However, if the loader does contain cards, check photocell
FC4 for proper operation, proper loading tooth movement and proper
regulation of the loading box guillotine.
E-02 CARD MISFEED- PRESS Card has not exited the loader. Press the FEED key to try again, check
START OR FEED photocell FC4, ensure that the cards are not warped, and that the loading
tooth is performing a complete cycle and functioning properly.
E-03 PUNCH MOTOR ERROR- The punch motor has not performed a complete cycle. Check:
PLEASE CALL SERVICE. that punching pressure is not too high;
photocell FC5;
fuses on the logic card;
that the punch motor is running properly;
that the clutch engages;
that the brake does not remain engaged at the end of the cycle.
E-04 EMBOSS WHL ERR.- CHECK signals that the character drum has not returned home. Check:
CARD/PRESS START that there are no punches out of position and manually check that the
drum is completing a rotation of 360°;
that belt tension is not too tight or too slack;
that the position control disc is fitted correctly;
that photocell FC3 is working properly;
the logic card for malfunctioning (L298 motor drivers burned out or fuses
blown).
E-05 X MOTOR ERR.- CHECK signals a movement error on the carriage X axis. Check:
CARD/PRESS START Photocell FC2 for proper functioning;
that there is nothing mechanical obstructing complete carriage strokes;
cleaning, lubrication and sliding on the V guide;
proper toothed belt tension;
correct positioning of mechanical limit stops;
that the set-up parameter settings match those indicated on the card
and in the operators manual.
E-06 Y MOTOR ERR.- CHECK signals a movement error on the gripper Y axis. Check:
CARD/PRESS START Photocell FC1 for proper functioning;
that there is nothing mechanical obstructing complete gripper strokes;
cleaning, lubrication and sliding on the V guide;
correct positioning of mechanical limit stops;
that the set-up parameter settings match those indicated on the card
and in the operators manual
that the punching mask data are correct.
E-07 LOST MASK & BATT OUT - The logic card buffer battery is dead. Replace the battery and reprogram
PRESS START all of the machine set-up data. The average life of the battery is 5-6 years.
E-08 LOST MASK IN MEMORY- The stored punching mask data have been deleted. Reprogram the
PRESS START machine.
E-09 LOST MASK CHANGE The stored punching mask data have been deleted from the configuration
CARD SIZE- PRESS START change in the machine set-up.
E-10 PAUSE EMBOSSING - The machine is in the pause mode. Press START to continue.

E-11 LOST MASK CHANGE The stored punching mask data have been deleted from the change in
INCH/MM - PRESS START the coordinates setting in the machine set-up.
E-12 ERROR IN TRACK 1- PRESS Writing or reading error on track 1 of magnetic strip.
START Check the card and press Start to reset the error or feeder to repeat the
card.
If the defect persists, clean the head, and check for proper card
movement in the encoding zone.
E-13 ERROR IN TRACK 2- PRESS Writing or reading error on track 2 of magnetic strip.
START Check the card and press Start to reset the error or feeder to repeat the
card. If the defect persists, clean the head, and check for proper card
movement in the encoding zone.
E-14 ERROR IN TRACK 3- PRESS Writing or reading error on track 3 of magnetic strip.
START Check the card and press Start to reset the error or feeder to repeat the
card. If the defect persists, clean the head, and check for proper card
movement in the encoding zone.
E-15 ERROR ENCOD. There is no serial communication between the logic card and the encoder
COMUNICATION - PRESS card. Check the fuse on the encoder card;
START ensure that the 5-Volt (regulator 7805) exists on card RS232;
ensure that all cables are properly connected.
E-16 NO INPUT FROM The encoder card is not returning any messages to the logic card.
ENCODER - PRESS START Check the fuse on the encoder card;
ensure that the 5-Volt (regulator 7805) exists on card RS232;
ensure that all cables are properly connected.
E-17 NO INPUT FROM CARD - No data are being read in code on the card.
PRESS START Check whether the card was loaded properly;
check the magnetic strip for damage;
check that the encoding head has been properly connected and that
no wires are interritti
E-18 OUT OF INFILL RIBBON - Signals the lack or breakage of the infillertape.
REPLACE /START Mount a new one or repair the broken one;
check photocell FC6 for proper functioning.
E-19 TIPPER NOT READY - An emboss command was sent when the tipper had not yet reached
PLEASE WAIT the working temperature. Wait - the machine will start up again
automatically once the right temperature has been reached.
E-20 OUT OF TIPPER RIBBON - Signals the lack or breakage of the tipper tape.
REPLACE/START Mount a new one or repair the broken one;
check the tipper tape line; it should pass through the photocell;
check the photocell found behind the reel for the new tape, for proper
functioning.
E-23 NO IMPUT FROM TRACK 1 Signals that no data were detected on track 1 during card reading.
- PRESS START Check whether the card was loaded properly;
check the magnetic strip for damage;
check that the encoding head has been properly connected and that
no wires are interritti
E-24 NO IMPUT FROM TRACK 2 Signals that no data were detected on track 2 during card reading.

check the magnetic strip for damage;
check that the encoding head has been properly connected and that
no wires are interritti
E-25 NO IMPUT FROM TRACK 3 Signals that no data were detected on track 3 during card reading.
- PRESS START Check whether the card was loaded properly;
check the magnetic strip for damage;
check that the encoding head has been properly connected and that
no wires are interritti
E-26 ENCODER MOTOR ERR. - Signals that the card is not being moved correctly in the encoding zone.
PRESS START Check the DC motor driving card movement in the encoding zone;
check the DC MOTOR DRIVER card.
E-27 PASW DENIED-PRESS The machine is protected by a password and an incorrect password has
START TO CONTINUE been entered. If the password has been lost, contact our Technical Service
Department for the Main Password.
E-28 LOST SEMIPERMANENT The stored EEPROM data have been lost. Reprogram the machine and

E-29 DRUM DATA LOST -PRESS Drum configuration data stored in EEPROM have been lost. Reprogram
START the machine, transmitting drum configuration with the Sw Card.
E-30 NO DRUM A drum configuration other than the default configuration, has been
CONFIGURATION-PRESS selected in set-up, without a special configuration having been saved.

E-36 ENCODER CARD LOST - Signals that the card has not exited from encoding.
PRESS START Ensure that no jamming of cards has occurred during handling;
check photocell FC4 for proper functioning.
E-37 EMBOSS CARD LOST - Signals that the card has not been picked up by the gripper.
PRESS START Ensure that no jamming of cards has occurred during handling;
check photocell FC10 for proper functioning.
E-38 CONFIGURATION LOST- The machine configuration has been lost. Check the logic card and
PRESS START AND CHECK reprogram the machine set-up.
E-39 NO CONFIGURATION - This message is normally displayed when the Eprom firmware has been
PRESS START AND CHECK replaced with an updated version. The machine set-up must be
reprogrammed.
E-45 TIPPER MOTOR ERROR - The tipper motor has not performed the work cycle properly.
PRESS START Check the tipper card;
check the tipper stop microswitch;
check motor cables.
E-70 PAUSE IMMEDIATE - PRESS The front cover has been opened during operation.
START Close the cover and press START to resume operation.
E-80 BCC ERROR - PRESS START A BCC error has been detected on the string transmitted by the PC. In
OR FEED most cases, the problem is due to a temporary disturbance on the serial
line.
E-81 PARITY ERROR - PRESS A parity error was detected on the string transmitted by the PC. In most
START OR FEED cases, the problem is due to a temporary disturbance on the serial line.
E-82 NO FIELD IN MASK - PRESS The punching mask data transmitted is incorrect. Check the data
START OR FEED transmitted.
E-83 CODE ERROR - PRESS A data error has been detected on the string transmitted by the PC in
START OR FEED CIM protocol.
Check the data transmitted.
E-84 FIELD OVERFLOW - PRESS The string transmitted by the PC shows more punching lines than those
START OR FEED foreseen by the mask data. Check the data transmitted.
E-85 BAD FORMAT - PRESS The mask data transmitted are incorrect. Check again.
START OR FEED
E-87 LONG FIELD - PRESS START The string transmitted by the PC shows a number of characters exceeding
OR FEED the accepted number, on one or more punching lines. Check the data
transmitted again.
E-88 ERROR ENCODER There is no serial communication between the logic card and the encoder
COMUNICATION - PRESS card.
START Check the fuse on the encoder card;
ensure that the 5-Volt (regulator 7805) exists on card RS232;
ensure that all cables are properly connected.
E-89 HEADER FORMAT ERROR - There is an error on the string transmitted by the PC (in MULTIEMBOSSER
PRESS START protocol).
Check the data transmitted again.
E-90 MODE CHECK ERROR - Check format data in the off-line-LCD EDIT function.
