Many people think modern communication technology is having

some negative effects on social relationships. Do you agree or disagree?

It is believed that the proliferations of advanced communication technology

may cause detrimental impacts on social relationships. Personally, I mostly
agree with this assertion.
Admittedly, there are many benefits as technology develops, especially in
making social interactions become convenient and quick. For example, in the
past, since they are physically apart, it was difficult to maintain a relationship
with few interactions. Today, technological advances can make communication
straightforward with social media such as Skype and Facetime bringing people
closer together. However, using this way of communication too much seems to
reduce the quality of face-to-face meetings. People gradually become disliked
gatherings and visiting each other instead call or text to visit. This can render
their actual relationships superficial and may trigger a sense of loneliness or
isolation.
Additionally, it is true that the rise of social networking applications that have
the function of sending instant messages and sharing status can help people
exchange information and share life with friends easily. These social platforms
offer users to message and use a variety of emotional icons, acronyms, or
symbolic images. Nevertheless, this seems cause create communication
boundaries and reduce social etiquette when people no longer write full
sentences can make others feel disrespected. Moreover, the communication
lacks body language and eye contact, and the participants in the conversation
are likely not to understand the true meaning of the other person. This can lead
to misunderstandings and misinterpretations, or even potential conflicts.
All things considered, technological advances can have implications for social
relationships. Although it brings many tangible benefits in communication,
adverse effects are inevitable.
