The Acceptability of Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) Leaves as an Alternative
Paper Enhanced With Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) Bark Extract

General Objective
To determine the feasibility of jackfruit as alternative with mahogany bark as an
extract

Specific Objective
1. Explore the process of making alternative paper by jackfruit leaves
enhanced with mahogany bark
2. Determine the effectiveness of making an alternative paper using jackfruit
leaves with mahogany bark extract
3. Test if the jackfruit leaves can be alternative paper with mahogany bark
extract

Introduction
Paper is a versatile material that is widely used in various applications across
different industries and in our daily life. However, the production and use of paper can
give rise to several environmental and sustainability challenges. Some problems
associated with paper production and usage include deforestation, water consumption,
energy consumption, waste generation, and if not properly managed it can lead to
landful and recycling challenges. One of the components in the making of paper is fiber.
Fiber are a crucial ingredients used to form the structure and texture of paper.
Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) produces large oval-shape known as
jackfruit. It has a dense canopy of dark green, glossy leaves that are elliptic and shape.
Jackfruit leaves are commonly used in traditional medicine and cooking in many parts of
the world. It is used to treat condition such as diabetes, highly blood pressure, and
digestion issues. It is sometimes used in cooking as an wrapper for steaming foods and
cooking meat dishes to impart a subtle flavor to the food. Jackfruit (Artocarpus
heterophyllus) leaves contains tannins, flavonoids that has a antioxidant properties,
saponins that may have cholesterol-lowering and anticancer properties, alkaloids,
turpenoids and most especially fiber. Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) bark has a
brownish red color. Dependence on natural dyes went on for a long time until the 1850s
(KeyColour, 2016). . It is commonly used as an natural dye among society in developing
countries (Safwan,A. & Shihab,S., 2018). Mahogany bark has been used as an
traditional medicine for each anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.
It is also used in natural cosmetics, woodworking and cultural and ritual purposes.
Furthermore, the objectives of this study is to determine the feasibility of jackfruit
as alternative with mahogany bark as an extract. Explore the process of making
alternative paper by jackfruit leaves enhanced with mahogany bark. Determine the
effectiveness of making an alternative paper using jackfruit leaves with mahogany bark
extract Test if the jackfruit leaves can be alternative paper with mahogany bark
extract .By doing this,we can help our environment to lessen the harmful incident that
are caused by the process of making paper.

The Effectiveness of Basil (Ocimum basilicum) as an Alternative Whitening Teeth
Powder

General Objective
To determine the feasibility of basil as an alternative whitening powder for teeth

Specific Objective
1. To test if the basil can be used as an alternative whitening powder for
teeth
2. Explore the process of making alternative whitening powder using basil
plant
3. Determine the effectiveness of basil in creating alternative whitening teeth
powder

Introduction
Basil plants had been used in different type. It is used in cooking as well as in
various skin care products for its ability to transform the skin and give it a healthy glow.
The plant also has a rich history of medicinal and spiritual importance in Indian culture;
for centuries, it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat several ailments and is
considered to be holy in the Hindu religion.
The basil leaves extract has lower antioxidant activity (20.55 ± 0.04 μg/mL)
compared with eugenol (2.44 ± 0.26 μg/mL) through DPPH scavenging activity. The
basil leaves extract (35.59 ± 0.83 μg/mL) has lower antiaging activity particularly as
antityrosinase activity compared with eugenol (10.87 ± 0.41 μg/mL).
The purpose of this study is to provide an alternative whitening teeth powder that
can’t harm us. By using natural whitening teeth powder,we can be more environment
friendly. We can use natural plants and make it more useful.
