ABSTRACT

As people become more concerned about the world's growing waste problem, they seek
technological solutions to reduce or even stop the rubbish from flowing to the rivers and seas.
Our main objective is to flow clean water that is free of impurities to our network of river
systems so that the community and aquatic life can enjoy clean water to conduct daily
activities. Our product uses cheap and durable materials to build a simple yet functionable
filter. These filters can be installed in drainage systems that are common in residential areas.
To be more specific, the filters can be fixed to the 'arches' of the drainage system to ensure
that most of the water can be filtered before being flowed to the rivers. For instance, our
product works by allowing the water to flow through the filtration system which consists of
three main layers. The first layer consists of filter materials that are larger in size to trap
larger sized foreign particles such as leaves and plastic. The second layer consists of smaller
filter mediums to trap smaller particles such as rocks and sediments. Finally, the third layer of
filter material is very miniscule in size and it is used to trap microparticles such as sand and
microplastic. All foreign particles that are collected will be disposed in an eco-friendly bin
that can be emptied on a monthly basis. Furthermore, all materials that are used in the
production of our filters are not harmful to the environment and is 100% eco-friendly. In
conclusion, our innovative product has the ability to clean our drainage systems which are
polluted with microplastic and other foreign objects which are catastrophic and detrimental
for the environment.
