Foam Sample Kit with Analysis


Description
The Drew Marine Firefighting Foam Sample Kit with Analy-
sis provides a convenient, fast and easy method of collecting
firefighting foam samples along with providing accurate
testing of low expansion firefighting foams. The pre-paid
kit provides everything needed for shipboard personnel to
collect samples, convey necessary information to our Drew
Marine lab, and send samples for analysis.

be checked annually for the following parameters:

• Sedimentation
• pH value
• Expansion ratio
• Drainage time/stability
• Volumic mass
• Alcohol Resistancy

Drew Marine offers an unbiased analysis of foam samples


that are in accordance with the IMO guidelines and also tests
to other parameters specific to foam type, such as surface
tension and spreading coefficient. Additional tests can be
performed upon customer request.

How to Use the Kit
1. Take sample (see “Instructions for Collecting Fire Foam
Samples” below).
2. Fill out “Request For Foam Sample Analysis” triplicate
form. Keep bottom copy for your records.
3. Firmly secure lids to sample bottles and place in plastic
bags.
4. Put sample bottles and “Request for Foam Sample
Analysis” in shipping box.
5. Attach pre-paid shipping label.
6. Drop the kit in the mail.

Results will be sent back within one week of receipt.

Instructions for Collecting Fire Foam Samples


1. If the system permits, the foam should be recircu-
lated for approximately 10 minutes prior to sampling.
(Recirculation should be done every six months of
Foam Test
storage, if possible).
2. The sample should be taken from the tank or level gauge
and NOT the surrounding pipe work. If taken from the
level gauge, 2-3 liters of foam should be run through
before filling the bottles. If taken from the tank, it should
be drawn from around the half tank height area.
3. Use the presupplied CLEAN AND DRY Drew sample
bottles to collect the sample. Two 1-liter bottles must be
filled for each tank.
4. Complete one “Request for Analysis Form” for each
2-liter sample
5. With a waterproof pen, fill in the required information
on the labels provided in the kit and attach to the sample
bottles.
