Milk of magnesia is a suspension of insoluble magnesium hydroxide in water. It is taken by people

who have stomach pain caused by indigestion and works by neutralizing acid in the stomach.

P is a solution of hydrochloric acid that was prepared by reacting with milk of magnesia.

Q is 0.10 mol/dm3 sodium hydroxide, NaOH.

In this experiment you will determine the concentration of hydrochloric acid in milk of magnesia
by titrating aqueous sodium hydroxide of concentration 0.08 mol/dm3 with the acid.

(a) (i) Using a pipette and a pipette filler, pipette out 25.0 cm3 of aqueous sodium hydroxide
and transfer it into a clean conical flask.
(ii) Fill up the burette with solution P. Carry out titration of aqueous sodium hydroxide,
as accurately as possible with Q.
Record your results in the table below, repeating the titration as many times as you
consider necessary to achieve consistent results.
Rewrite the procedure you carried out using the correct tense.
