GREEN CHANGE SOLUTION

1. Climate change: BBC English

2. The effects of Planting trees – TEDex

Problem solving:
1. Climate change
- Since poplulation is increasing every day, human activities lead to bad
results. (Main causes)
+ Rhetoric: Pp emit carbon every day >< pp don’t emit carbon equally.
- Big problem: The rich and the poor.
+ Rhetoric: Arvind Ravikumar – Professor of climate policy at Texas University
has done the Research: He gave a specific number of people living in low –
consuming and high – consuming country.
2 billion pp in low – consuming country: Don’t have vehicle, without cars,
electricity,… => Add very little global carbon emissions. (Rised by just 1.5%)
2 billion pp in high – consuming country: Because of their high – income, that
pp with cars, mod cons would rise by 60% carbon emissions.
 Big problem: Not overpopulation – Just overconsumption. High – income
pp has more carbon – footprint than the rest. They use air – conditioning,
money, shopping and throw their trash, waste their foods, water so that they
feel happy and pleasant with what they do.
 Solving: Government should have suitable income policy that can control
and balance between rich/poor pp. Carbon emissions would be less in air.
 Solving: Raise pp’s awareness: Going to school, a call for pp to save up
their money, hand out punishment.
2. Deforestration
- Some place in HCMC, HN are getting hot even outside or inside buiding.
+ Rhetoric: Since government and pp want to catch up with many countries
around the world: Singapore, US, UK, China, Korea,… , they cut down lots of
trees to build MRT (Mass rapid transit), LRT (Light Rail Transit), shopping
mall, villas with beautiful park. (Landmark 81).
 Big problems: Too much carbon dioxide emit lead to global warming, KPI
will be decrease (pp too tired to work)
 Government and business need to start the ball rolling. Many companies
have also seized on planting trees to offset emissions.
 On the other hand: Other support programs that practice (Ủng hộ) assisted
natural regeneration. For instance, UFM has started Voluntary Spring
campaign and Green Summer campaign over a decade for student to protect
environment and help poor pp.
New words:
- Population has soared: Population increases rapidly.
- Reveal the answer.
- low – consuming country: Country has poor pp (Low GDP)
- high – consuming country: Country has rich pp (High GDP)
- Arvind Ravikumar’s finding: Arvind Ravikumar’s research.
- mod cons: (= modern conveniences): technology and machines like cars,
washing-machines, air-conditioning and fridges which make life easier and
more pleasant
- carbon footprint: measurement of how much carbon dioxide is produced by
someone's everyday activities.
