System Maintenance Guideline

MFD Maintenance
Please take into account the following recommendations:
1. Check HDD every month, try to keep more than 10Gb of free space. How to check and perform
maintenance:
1.1. On each station, run the “DataTool” utility and check available free space on drive .
1.2. The following data can be deleted for freeing the drive:
■ Feature Crash dump. Copy data ( files) to an external drive (or drive ) and save it until the
Transas software engineer arrives on board for investigating what caused the software crash or
malfunction.
■ Feature AIS Data, section AIS LOG. Disable the ECDIS task to unlock file deletion.
■ Feature Screenshot. Copy data to an external drive (or drive ).
2. Chart installation and update:
2.1. It is strongly recommended that Manual Synchronization option be used (the Status Page button).
2.2. Any station with Navi-Planner 4000 (w01, w05, w02, w06) can be used for chart installation and
update. It is necessary to remember that if a request for charts is sent from a certain station, it is only
this station that can process the reply. You can, therefore, only switch from one station to another if
the “replies received to all the previously sent requests, all the data is synchronized” condition is
available.

Recommendations for Crew Encountering

Problems with Bridge
WARNING: Avoid turning off the computers via the supply shutdown by pressing and holding the Power button
on the computer (keeping the Power button depressed for more than 3 s on the RS6C computer).

1. Should the Navi-Planner application, or the ECDIS, or the RADAR hang up, turn this station off and do not
turn it on until the ship is in a safe location (open sea, alongside the berth). To turn on the station, follow
directions of item 3;
2. If the rest of the stations operate adequately, continue your work;
3. If operation of the rest of the stations is also unstable, it is necessary to turn them off and then on as per
the directions below (anticipated duration of the sequence is ~10 min):
■ Turn OFF all the bridge stations (see Note1);
■ Turn on the stations ONE BY ONE starting with the station which is set up as the ECDIS Master;
■ After the computer has started and the TRINTEG window has appeared, wait for 60 seconds before
running the ECDIS/RADAR;
■ Then start the next station and applications, etc.

NOTE1: To turn off the power supply use the CTRL+ALT+I key combination (or the dedicated TRINTEG button
on the ES6 keyboard), and on the TRINTEG panel press the SHUTDOWN button.
Should you fail to turn off the supply by using the SHUTDOWN button on the TRINTEG panel, click the Power
button on the RS6B/RS6C computer.

NOTE2: If the ship is subscribed to the PAYS service, the total number of installed charts should NOT exceed ~
5000-7000 items. This has a direct effect on the bridge performance.
