 INTRODUCTION

It is one of the leading General Civil and Corporate Law practitioners based out of Coimbatore
and Chennai

It is a family-run law firm, with the fourth generation in the family, currently in practice. The
establishment was started by Sri. K.V. Narayanaswamy Iyer who was a doyen at the Bar.

The firm was recognized amongst the top ten law firms in India in the field of corporate law by
Business World magazine. The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded the “GK
Sundaram Award” for outstanding service to the corporate field firm.

The firm has extensive practice in the Madras High Court, NCLT, NCLAT, District Court
Coimbatore, arbitration, and other forums.

 Day 1

Date: 29/05/2023

It was the first day of my internship, I was introduced to the members of the office and was
given a brief introduction about the work that I’ll be given.
I was assigned work to read the bylaws of an association named SREE DAKSHAS and to
summarize it by jotting down the important points. The important points were regarding the
election, Notices being issued to the members, the Executive committee, and how the finance of
the association is utilized for the welfare of the members.
Next, the Senior Associate briefed me about a Company Petition, Counters, and Rejoinder. I
was asked to read a Company Petition related to LOTUS company and note down the counters.
It was a case where the petitioner filed a suit against 9 respondents who were members of the
board presently. I read all of their counters and recorded them.

Day 2

Date: 30/05/2023

I typed the important points from SREE DAKSHAS bylaws and mailed them to the associate.
I read a compromise decree regarding the partition of property between parties and typed items
1 to 3 in Schedule A of the same.
I checked it twice because it had numerical related to the measurement of land and mailed it to
the associate.

Day 3

Date: 31/05/2023

I read Section 27 of the Indian Contracts Act regarding any agreement that restricts commerce
or business is unlawful. I took a few case laws regarding the same.
I was explained a proposition related to a case involving Islamic Wakf related to a succession
of property.

Day 4

 I researched on the same and gained knowledge about revocable and irrevocable trust. I also
came across the concept of Wakf - alal - aulad. I mailed relevant caselaws as a document to the
Senior Associate.
I read a Plaint and Written Statement of a simple case to understand their nature

Day 5

Date 03/05/2023
I was given a proposition regarding the interpretation of ambiguity in a judgment on the
limitation of suits. It was regarding the exclusion of 2 years of COVID period from the
limitation period. I read various notifications and circulars issued by the government and
researched the same. I mailed the findings to the Senior Associate.
I read the facts of a case related to an unsound lady who had opted for arbitration of a property
suit.

Day 6

Date 05/05/2023

I translated a sale deed from Tamil to English with the help of Senior Associate.
I researched the proposition What can’t be done directly cannot be done indirectly with
respect to constitutional Acts and Regulations.
I was briefed about IBC & IBBI by the Senior Associate.

Day 7

Date 06/06/2023

I googled and found out more about IBBI & IBC to gain more knowledge about them.
I mailed relevant case laws on the Act & Regulation proposition to the Associate.
I learnt two concepts called as Outright purchase and Related party transactions

Day 8
Date 07/06/2023

I researched the format for NCLAT appeal in the Supreme Court.

Myself and other interns were given a set of 9 propositions regarding sale arbitrations.
We divided them among ourselves and researched them. I compiled all the case laws of
9 propositions and mailed them to the Associate as a single document.

Day 9
Date 08/06/2023

I saw a live NCLT proceeding which was virtual and the experience was new and very
useful. It was a hearing regarding the CIRP- Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process.

I researched the proposition regarding the arbitrator's jurisdiction provided in the
arbitration clause.
I researched on whether an employee’s termination related matters are filed in civil court
or labour court.

Day 10
Date 09/06/2023

I was instructed to read a few sections of the Maternity Act, I summarized its mandates
and mailed it as a document to the Associate.
I researched on a proposition whether company’s property should be sold in the name of
Managing Director or Company’s name. During this I came across the concept of
promoters, directors of a company.

Day 11
Date 10/06/2023

I was given a proposition regarding a default debtor who reduced the interest rate,
having he had agreed for higher rate of interest priorly. I researched about the concept of
estoppel and mailed relevant case laws to the Associate.
I typed a document related to the Lotus Case and mailed it to the Senior Associate.

Day 12
Date 12/06/2023

I researched about appeal in arbitration under Section 9 and also related to interim
rewards with respect to Section 34.
I typed the rejoinder with the help of other interns for the Lotus case where there were 9
respondents who were replied in 3 different documents.

Day 13
Date 13/06/2023

I visited the Coimbatore District Court. I was taught the hierarchy of the court by the
Associate. We had cases in I- Additional District Judge Bench and V- Additional
District Judge Bench both of which were adjourned to next month.
I was given a Patta number such as 192 Block by the Associate, I checked its status in
the eservices.tn.gov.in website for a case

Day 14
Date 14/06/2023

I visited the Coimbatore District Court where we had cases in I- Additional District
Judge Bench and Principal District Judge Bench. The former case was adjouned while
for the latter case application of documents were made.

Later I researched regarding partnership between Husband & Wife where the husband
dies and the surviving partner becomes the legal heir.

Day 15
Date 15/06/2023

I witnessed NCLT proceeding of a case.

I read the facts of a case related to settlement of property among members of a family.
I typed a written version for a case and mailed it to the Associate.
