Fe Buangin Carranza

a 50-year-old polio victim who has overcome many challenges

to build a successful food business. She is an inspiration to
others with disabilities and her story is one of hope and
perseverance.

Carranza was born in Panicuason, Naga City, and contracted

polio at the age of 3. Despite her disability, she finished high
school and went on to start a buy-and-sell vegetable business
in Navotas. However, she was forced to return to Panicuason
to raise her four children after her husband strayed.
In 2004, Carranza's life took a turn for the better when she learned how to make tofu from some
college students who were stranded in her town by a typhoon. She started a tofu business with the
new skill and soon found success.
Today, Carranza's FABCARR Food Products supplies soya bread, chilled taho, soya milk, soya
choco, soya coffee, tofu, and soya ham to 29 schools and 27 Barangay Day Care centers in Naga
City. She has also generated jobs for more than 10 workers.
Carranza's success is a testament to her hard work and determination. She is an inspiration to others
with disabilities and her story shows that anything is possible if you set your mind to it.
What have I learned?
Fe's story goes beyond the deliciousness of soya choco. Her life carries a powerful message:
disability is not the end, but just a part of a bigger story. It shows us that every challenge holds a
hidden chance, waiting to be discovered with determination and kindness.
What I have realized?
Overcoming adversity through unwavering determination and resilience is the key to achieving
success, regardless of the challenges one may face. No matter the obstacles in your path, never let
them dampen your spirit or discourage you from pursuing your dreams and aspirations, for with the
right mindset and unwavering dedication, you can triumph over any adversity and reach the pinnacle
of your desired achievements, proving that disability is not a barrier to your ultimate success.
What will you do as a future teacher?
As a future educator, I would use the inspiring story of Fe Buangin Carranza to motivate and inspire
my students. I would show them how Fe's strong belief in herself and embracing her unique qualities
and differences helped her overcome challenges and achieve her goals. I want my students to realize
that they too have the power to accomplish anything they set their minds to, as long as they have
determination and self-confidence. By teaching them to persevere and believe in their abilities, I aim
to help them become resilient individuals who can achieve their dreams.
