Instructions for Group Task

Please pay attention to the instruction given on the assignment sheet in addition to the further
clarification given below.

In your groups examine the eductional philosophy assigned to you and prepare an informative,
well focused and grahically rich presentation taking account of the following:

a) The major philosophy to which your assigned educational philosophy ins linked
b) The origins of the educational philosophy assigned
c) The specific views your assigned educational philosophy espouses on education (for
example, on the purpose of education, the subjects to be taught/emphasied and why,
the role of teachers and students and any other educational issue of note)
d) The ways in which or extent to which the assigned educational philosophy is reflected
or not in the overall curriculum (and hence discipline taught) of the groups’ educational
instittutions (curriculum documents, timetabling, nature of the taught curriculum,
mission/tradition of the school etc),
e) The name and enduring contribution of one known proponent or advocate of the
educational philosophy and any movement or development associated with the
philosophy

f) The collective experiences of the group members in relation to the predominant
curriculum design (s) to which your former educational institutions (former secondary
schools) subscribed

Please note: The conclusion of the presentation should be reflective in tone and should
provide a succinct commentary on any critique found in the readings on the educational
philosophy as well as the group’s perpective on the philosophy.
