Working as Teamwork

Let us make your learning in motion by enhancing your brain stored knowledge on
another lesson that is the significance of teamwork.
Team working is putting into one all the resources, talents of each member of the
group to produce unity intended for a common good. Synergy is the best term for unity. As
sensationalized in a story of the human anatomy whereby all members of the body were so
highly arrogant because of their assigned function except for the “anus” They come up with
an argument: the eyes said to them, without me this body could not move into a certain
direction because it could not see; then the nose said without me this body could not tell
between sweet aroma and bad odor; then came ears argued,” Without us this body could
not enjoy the beauty of the sound so, I am important: then, the heart said to them that, “
Without me, all of us will die because I am the one responsible in distributing blood and
oxygen to this body.” Then came one another, claiming and bragging their importance
except for “anus” that was considered the lowest or most insignificant component of the
body and the most humiliated one. He said to him silently, “All of you are so arrogant and
desire to be treated specially, alright, I won’t cooperate with you.” So for one month Mr.
Anus never opened, the owner of the body began to experience being very weak that it could

hardly move anymore and all the other components of the body including the brain and the
heart began to panic and weakened likewise. So in humility they recognized and requested
anus to cooperate with them by opening itself. Anus with a good kind of nature responded
to the request of the other components of the body. So all of them recovered well, including
the whole body. Arrogance, individualism, and selfishness have no room in a team.
Based on the above anecdote, it only tells that working together as a group will
harvest success.

Below is a diagram on effective grouping adapted from Ron Gaff (2007). Characteristics of
