Favor for the Republic Act 1425 (Rizal Law)

-first of all it was passed by Senator Claro M. Recto he is the main proponent of the Rizal Law that is why
he is one of the people in favor of passing the Rizal Law into law so that we can also have knowledge.
however, the process for the Rizal Law to be passed in congress was not successful, so with the help of
Jose P. Laurel who together with him promoted this law to become an official law here in the Philippines
and it became an official law on June 12, 1956.
Against for the Republic Act 1425 (Rizal Law)
- The Catholic Church is opposed to the Rizal Law because it is said to be a great disservice to the
Catholic religion, so many priests campaigned to prevent the Rizal Law from being enacted. and
according to Fr. Jesus Cavanna that the teaching of the past has bad effects on the present because the
priests in Rizal's novel did a lot of bad things if he is worried that people might think of the priests as bad
because of what they read in Rizal's novel. and also according to Rufino Santos, the Archbishop of
Manila, Catholic students will be affected if this is passed, as they may not be able to continue their
Catholic studies, so he is not agree with the Rizal.

Would similar arguments still have force today

-in my opinion it is not anymore because the Rizal Law is already in the law there is nothing to oppose it
is taught in all schools whether private or public and like before there are still people who don't like the
Rizal Law but there is a debate in congress if Rizal is the national hero because of the teaching of Rizal's
life, many were disappointed and surprised by what we learned from our professor, which is why I also
wonder if Rizal deserves to be our national hero. Until now, no law or bill has been issued on the
national hero of the Philippines because the selection of the national hero of the Philippines is being
analyzed and studied carefully.
