Issues raised by both parties on passing the Rizal law.

Rizal law is an act that mandates all educational institutions to offer courses about the life,
works and writings of Jose Rizal. It was signed by President Ramon Magsaysay on June 12, 1956 but
contrary to what we think there was a debate before it becomes a law. Debate between the Pro – The
law makers, Masons knights of Rizal and the Anti-church.

The Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo of Rizal have aim to enlighten the Filipinos on what
happening in the country back then. The popular work of Rizal, the Noli Me Tangere portrays the abuses
of power comprise the majority of conflicts and it is said to be an attack on the Church. This what issues
raised by both parties on passing the Rizal law. Both parties have a clear argument for passing the Rizal
law as the fact that studying about the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal may change the insights or
point of view of a person because in some chapter of Noli Me Tangere the church shows power and
contempt that may affects the image of the church. On the other hand, mandatory of teaching Life and
work of Rizal can be able to appreciation of what heroism he did and also based on the discussion, the
reason for Rizal law is for re-dedication to the ideals of freedom and nationalism for which our heroes
lived and died. Moreover, it is call to every Filipino to love his own country.

The study of Life and work of Rizal or the Rizal law, it can be a waste of time for the others but it
symbolizes devotion to a nation and showing love for the country. May be back then, the church just
want to protect their image in the community but mandates to offer courses about life, works and
writings of Jose Rizal can learned many lessons not just only for our country but also for ourselves.

1. Ways of showing the sense of Nationalism.

In the modern days, I think it is hard to show the sense of Nationalism, but as a citizen I can
show it by voting for the rightful leader of the county and be aware of the issues in our country. As our
family business is native products, patronizing and supporting of our own products can express
Nationalism.

There are many ways to show Nationalism, may be on the way of respect the Philippine flag
and value the Filipino identity, preserve the Filipino culture, respect and values our culture, speak out
our own language and many more. But the important things to express the Nationalism is to be a good
citizen and follow the laws and regulations of our country.
