1. What are aims of the newspaper Las Solidaridad?
To strengthen the Spanish awareness of the needs of Filipinos at the time of Spanish
conquest.
To strengthen and propagate a closer relationship between the Filipinos and Spaniards.
To provide news about economic, cultural, political, and social condition of the country
both local and foreign.
To reach the propaganda movement goals towards good relations with Spain.

2. What is a propagandist?
Propagandist is a person who disseminates propaganda.
A person who tries to persuade people to join or believe in an idea or organization.
In adjective it is consisting spreading propaganda.

3. What are aims of Propaganda movement led by Filipino Ilustados?


Because of injustice killing of GOMBUZA the Filipino Ilustrados formed the Propaganda
movement aimed to seek new forms and inform Spain of the abuses of its colonial
government.
It aims to change the way Spaniards govern the Filipinos.
To have legal equality between the Filipinos and Spaniards.
it aims Philippines as a province of Spain.

4. Is the novel Noli set in a particular time period?


Yes, Jose Rizal wrote Noli Me Tangere during the colonization of the country by Spain
and aims to expose the inequities of the Spanish Catholic priests and the ruling
government.
5. Where do events take place? Are there multiple location?
Yes, It has many locations here in the Philippines, like in San Diego in the province of
Laguna where is the main location of Noli Me Tangere, Anloague Street in the City of
Manila where Ibarra was invited to stay, Laguna de Bay where they witnessed a
crocodile in the water. But also mentioned aboard, in Europe where Crisostomo Ibarra
studied.

6. Choose one character in Noli and write your impression towards the symbolism of the
character.
Elias, He represents an ordinary Filipino and he distrusts human judgement and prefers
God’s justice instead. Also Elias said to be the personification of Andres Bonifacio where
he prefers a revolution over reforms.

7. What is Rizals motive in writing his annotations of Morga’s work?


Rizal’s motive was to let the Filipinos know its true identity even before the Spaniards
came to the Philippines and also to inform the Filipinos of the true or authentic culture
that the Philippines has before the Spanish conquered us.

8. What is the argument of Rizal regarding Filipino Indolence?


Rizal wrote the essay “ The Indolence of the Filipinos “ as a response to the accusation
that Filipinos were born indolent. It explains the alleged idleness of the Filipinos. The
argument of Rizal, defends the Filipinos by saying that they are not indolent by nature
because in fact, even before the arrival of Spaniards, Filipinos have been engaged in
economic activities such as agriculture and trade. Indolence therefore has more deeply
rooted causes such as abuse and discrimination, inaction of the government, rampant
corruption and red tape, wrong doctrines of the church and wrong examples from some
Spaniards who lead lives of indolence which ultimately led to the deterioration of
Filipino values.

9. Who are filibustero in the perpective of Spanish and Filipino?


They are people Who want to render respect of revolutionary activities and the one
who, eager for the independence of the country, resorts to various extralegal
proceedings in order to reach the objective that he pursues. But by the end of the
nineteenth century, the Spanish colonial government defined filibuster as someone
who works for the separation of our overseas provinces.

10. Choose one character in El Fili and write your impression towards the symbolism of
the character
Isagani, he is the symbol of the youth whose love for the country and he was an
idealistic young man.

11. What is the importance of studying biography of a person in narrating our national
history?
It is very important to study the biographies of people in our national history because it
is one of the ways to value their sacrifices and achievements in our History. It is also
important for us to be aware of the issues of our society and it can also be the basis or
inspiration to each other to be a good member of society. Moreover, the importance of
studying biography of their life is to have enough knowledge of how difficult life was for
our fellow Filipinos just to give total freedom to our country and for us to give justice to
the sacrifices of our fellow Filipino heroes and most importantly, it serves as the basis
for us to be loyal to our country.
