support up to 25 women. McAuley House
Ballarat can only support up to eight
women. The service is unable to meet 99

MacAuley House Footscray provides
programs to build skills and reconnect
women to cooking and food. The service
provide access to woman to case
management support as they recover and
rebuild their lives.
The organization does not receive enough
funding, which put its future at risk. The
Magpie Nest Housing
Magpie Nest Housing is a partnership between
Melbourne Project 614 and the Collingwood Football
Club Foundation. The program aims to make a
genuine difference in the lives of people experiencing
homelessness by providing a network of support
services and safe, affordable accommodation.
The most vulnerable people in our community -
people sleeping rough on the streets, couch surfing or
living in unsafe rooming houses. The program also
provides support services for women affected by the
trauma of domestic violence.

There are currently 45 two- and three-bedroom houses
in Magpie Nest accommodating 115 people with a
history of homelessness or who were at risk of
becoming homeless.
Case workers provide individual support and care,
including links to mental health, drug and alcohol
addiction services, legal, employment and training
services.
