DISCUSSION QUESTIONS (DQ's).

2. Examine the enterprise resource planning requirements of a certain organization.

Answer:

A sophisticated software program called enterprise resource planning (ERP) unifies all of a
business's activities and procedures. Analyzing an organization's ERP requirements
necessitates understanding its unique needs, objectives, and challenges. The important phases
for analyzing the ERP requirements of a business are as follows:

1. Know the Business Processes: Become well-versed in all of the departments within
the organization's current business processes. Identify the problems, challenges, and
areas that need to be improved (Anderson, 2011).
2. Establish Functional Requirements: Find out what features and functionalities
different departments and stakeholders require. A few examples are customer
relationship management (CRM), manufacturing, sales, procurement, inventory
management, finance and accounting, and human resources (HR).
3. Establish Integration Requirements: Assess the organization's present systems and
applications to ascertain what integration needs must be met with the ERP system.
Part of this process involves determining which third-party software, legacy systems,
and other crucial systems need to be integrated.
4. Consider Scalability and Growth: Assess the organization's scalability requirements as
well as its future growth objectives. Examine the ERP system's capacity to
accommodate the organization's growing number of users, expanding into new
markets or business lines, increasing transaction volumes, and changing needs.
5. Establish the Required Level of Customization or Configuration: Ascertain the degree
of customization or setup necessary to align the ERP system with the unique
procedures and work processes of the company. Analyze how adaptable the ERP
system is to allow customization without endangering upcoming updates and
maintenance.

By following these procedures, businesses may accurately assess their ERP requirements and
decide which ERP system best suits their needs and objectives as a company, as well as how
to customize and execute it.
