FABULA ASSIGNMENT 2

Elements of Control Loop

Make a process control diagram for the following process or system:

Constant Level Head tank BALL MILL CONTROL SYSTEM

What are basic elements in a water level control and process mill control loop:

Ball Mill Control System

An average motion control system consists of four fundamental elements. These are the feedback,
actuator, amplifier, and controller. Depending on the kinds of applications for which they are intended
and constructed, the complexity of each of these components will change.

Constant Level Head tank

The signal consists of two elements, the first of which is a level signal from the boiler's water. The
second component is the flow signal from the boiler's steam off-steam take's flowmeter.

Discuss each components for the following process or system:

For the Constant Level Head tank:

Bubbler Tube – Simply defined, Bubbler Systems gauge water level by measuring the force required to
force an air bubble through a plastic tube and into a body of water. This pressure, often known as the
"line pressure," must adjust to the water's elevation.
Set Point – In order to maintain a predetermined or fixed temperature, set-point controls operate
heating or cooling system components (such as boilers, pumps, or valves).
Valve – The valve lets off extra pressure in the water heater tank. By doing this, it can stop the building
of extra pressure that could lead to a tank burst and a flood in your home. It is a little-noticed yet crucial
safety feature for your water heater.
Water Storage – Until you're ready to use it, pure water from your reverse osmosis system or other filter
systems is kept in a water storage tank.
Controller – A tank and level controller is the best controller for keeping the water in your water tank at
a set level by taking input from a float switch within the tank.

For the Ball – Mill control system:

Ball Mill – The materials are typically crushed and ground into an incredibly fine form using ball mills.
Mill Feed – The system automates bin feeders, scales, mixing and discharge from the mixer.
Cyclone – The ball mill will be used to continue grinding the cyclone underflow.
Sump – -is made to carefully discharge rainwater from external Secondary Containment Areas.
Pump – Pump speed and output are both controlled by the controller. Sensors of all kinds, including
flow meters and level sensors, provide the input variables. The pump controller then activates in
response to the information, adjusting the pump's speed to the ideal setting.
Actuator – An actuator, which can be mechanical or electro-mechanical, is a device that transforms the
energy in a control signal into mechanical motion. An actuator is, to put it simply, a tool that enables
controlled movement or positioning. For mechanical motion to occur, actuators require both a control
signal and an energy source.
Valve – In piping systems, valves control the flow and pressure of liquids, gases, gels, powders, and
other substrates. The valves are controlled by valve controllers and/or actuators, which change their
positions as necessary. Systems for controlling valves can be manual or automatic.
Controller – A controller is a device used in control systems that works to reduce the discrepancy
between a system's desired value and its actual value. All complex control systems use controllers,
which are a fundamental component of control engineering.
Sensor – A control system's sensors, transducers, and transmitters are crucial parts. Sensors identify
changes in physical characteristics, whereas transducers turn those changes into an electrical signal that
can be processed. It is transformed by transmitters into a format that can be transmitted over long
distances.
