Decision-making, negative thinking and career difficulties indicate undecidedness of a student .

In order for students to make a better decision, one can consider interest and intellectual ability.

interest in the subject, relationship with peers, members of the family and teachers, and by

assessment and research in the internet and other sources before making the decision . Many

students need career counselling for choosing correct career path as clinical researcher or

clinical practitioner .The approach to supporting student willingness is a potential influence

(Edwards, K. and Quinter, M. (2011).

Second according to (Aguado et al., 2015) that Financial Status and Parents Influence affect in

Selecting a strand among senior high school students, they have to considered their financial

status, parents and peer suggestion, and also their self-choice in acting on it. This study

investigates whether financial status with self-choice; parents influence with self-choice; and

peer influence with self-choice are having an association with each other in selecting a strand.

214 of students by complete enumeration answered the questionnaire on financial status and

likert-scale for parental influence, peer influence, and self-choice and the data gathered been

analyzed via weighted mean, frequency, chi-square and lambda in determining their association.

The result shows that the financial status of students in school alone is inclined to self-choice in

the selection of a strand but not with parental and peers influence in selecting a strand. In other

words, parents and peers show no significant association with self-choice of students, though

the influences of parents and peers are noticeable.

Third According to Edwards, K. and Quinter. M. (2011). That Students career choices are

influenced by numerous factors including outcome expectancies, individual variants such as

gender, personal interests, learning. There are variations in the level of influence each factor has

on students career choices by gender. Family members are more influential in students career

choices as compared to other persons. As students interact with their peers, their advice is less

important as compared to family members, teachers and career counselors. However teachers

are more influential compared career counselors. The study further recommends that, after

initial career decisions have been made, career coumellors can continue to encourage successful

career development by identifying sources of psychosocial sapport available to students.

Persons that offer career advice to students should ensure that they are well informed so as to

provide accurate information that will lead students to correct career choice

Peer Pressure and Academic Performance: Peer pressure exerts a substantial impact on the

academic performance and decision-making of senior high school students, as revealed by

research findings. Students often conform to prevailing norms within their peer groups to evade

potential social penalties, which can lead to a decline in academic performance, particularly

when their efforts are observable to peers (Hartley, 2011). Moreover, peer influence extends

beyond mere conformity, infiltrating various aspects of students' academic lives, including

attendance and engagement in classes. Studies indicate that students are more likely to receive

lower grades when skipping classes with their peers, underscoring the pervasive influence of
peer pressure (Hartley, 2011). Furthermore, the influence of peers extends to high-risk

behaviors such as risky driving, substance use, and engagement in violent activities, highlighting

its far-reaching impact on students' behavior and decision-making processes (Hartley, 2011).

Social Environment and Peer Interactions: The role of the school environment in shaping peer

interactions and mitigating negative influences is emphasized by Wentzel (2016). Adolescents

who derive enjoyment from their school experience are more likely to form supportive peer

groups, fostering resilience against negative influences (Wentzel, 2016). Additionally, academic

pressure emanating from various sources, including school, family, and peers, significantly

impacts students' overall well-being and academic performance (Dong & Chen, 2019). Hence,

fostering a supportive school environment that alleviates academic pressure and promotes

positive peer interactions is imperative for facilitating students' academic success and holistic

development.
