Etymology : was formerly known as the exonym Siam prior to
1949. Thai means “free man” in its language.
History : Tai ethnic group migrated into the mainland over a
period of centuries. “Siam” may have been from Pali
(suvannabhumi / “Land of Gold”) or Sanskrit (syama / “dark”) to
the Thai, the name has mostly been Mueng Thai.
Geography : Thailand is in the middle of SEA, it is the 50th largest
country. Its position influenced many aspects of its culture &
society.
Climate : it is mainly a “tropical wet and dry or savannah climate”

ruins, & temples.
