CHAPTER – 1
INTRODUCTION
After the separation of Hero group and Honda motor company,[2] the
Splendor is now manufactured by Hero Motocorp
PROBLEM DEFINITION
8. We are doing finite element analysis for finding out the optimized
product in
crankshaft .
1.To perform complete study of Crankshaft of petrol engine of two wheeler for getting the
dimensions, loading conditions etc.
2. Convert CAD model into neutral file so that it can be open in FEM
software

FQ = FP cosφ
Tangential force
FT = FQ sin (θ + ϕ)

Tc = Max.twisting moment on crank pin
Tc =HT1× b1
Te = √[(Mc)2 + (Tc)2]
Fpmax = π/4×D²×Pmax
Fpmax= π/4×502×3.5
Fpmax=6.86 x E3 N

Tangential force,
FT = FQ sin (θ+ɸ)

Radial force,

We know that piston gas load , Force on the crankshaft Area of the
bore x Force on crankshaft
Fp= 6.860 KN
In order to find the thrust in the connecting rod ( ), we should first find
out the angle of inclination of the connecting rod with the line of
stroke (i.e. angle ).We know that Which implies = 6.59°
We know that thrust in the connecting rod From this we have, Thrust
on the connecting rod = 6.905 KN Now shear stress on the crankshaft
for which it is safe
= 6.860KN/ 176.17mm2
= 38.9396 N/mm2
= 38.9396 MPa
This value of shear stress is the limiting value. If the stress induced
goes beyond this value for any material then that crankshaft will
definitely fail. Hence for FEM structural
LIMITATION
-Splendor plus worst seat never I had experienced above 70-kg persons don't take this bike,
if you purchased this bike you must know that you had purchased some problems also, the worst
seating experienced I had, if you ride 70 to 80 kms per day piles appear as much as fast, we have
given a big prize to the seat ...
-Gear shifting not smooth and engine vibration for just 55 kmph. Sound
generate for gear shifting time and clutch release time.
- Low headlight and milage 52 very low milage bike and gear shifting
problem.
- noise in first gear less pick up. mileage is average 50kmpl. often
wobling sensation. vibration at top speed
LIMITATION:-
March 2022, the Income tax department conducted raids on offices and
several other locations of Hero MotoCorp. Following this the
department stated in a report that the two wheeler giant had made
bogus claims of expenses to the tune of Rs 1000 crore.
CHAPTER – 2
The 2006 Forbes list of the 200 World's Most Respected Companies had
Hero Honda Motors ranked at No. 108.[36]
The Brand Trust Report published by Trust Research Advisory has
ranked Hero Honda in the 7th position among the most trusted brands
in India.[37]
It received the 'Best Value for Money Bike Maker' and 'Best Advertising'
in the Two Wheelers Category at the Auto India Best Brand Awards
2012.
The equity shares of Hero MotoCorp are listed on the Bombay Stock
Exchange,[32] and the National Stock Exchange of India,[33] where it
is a constituent of the NIFTY 50.[34]
As of March 2013, the company has sold over 7 crore (70 million) 2-
wheelers since its inception in 1984.[3] It sold 60.7 lakh (6.07 million)
2-wheelers in 2012, out of which 55 lakh (5.5 million) were
motorcycles. Hero MotoCorp sells more two-wheelers than the second,
third, and fourth-placed two-wheeler companies put together. Its most
popular bike, the Hero Splendor sells more than 10 lakh units per year.
In 2019, Hero MotoCorp sold more than 78 lakh (7.8 million) units,
which is the highest by any two-wheeler company in the world. It
registered its best-ever monthly performance by selling 7,69,000 units
in the month of September 2018. In the April - June 2018 quarter (non-
festive time), the company registered its best-ever quarterly
performance by selling more than 21 lakh (2.1 million) units.[28]
In January 2021, Hero MotoCorp's production exceeded 100 million.[29]
As of 2021, Hero is the only Indian automobile brand to exceed 100
million in production.[29] In February 2021, Hero MotoCorp sold
484,405 units with 0.9 percent growth.[30]
THEORETICAL ANALYSIS :-
Sample calculation for Modal Analysis for Alloy steel Formula used is,
Where ,
F= Natural Frequency in Hz
L= Length =0.2m
F= 3.56 X 182.77
F= 652.093 Hz
NUMERICAL ANALYSIS:-
CATIA is very powerful tool. You can harness this power to capture the
design intent of your models by acquiring an understanding of
fundamental concepts that define the software and why exist. This
lesson discusses these concepts in detail. You shouldkeep them in
mind as you progress through this chapter.
Design Concepts:
Design Intent:
Before you design your model, you need to identify the design intent.
Design intent defines the purpose and function of the finished product
based on product specifications or requirements. Capturing design
intent builds value and longevity into your products. The key concept
is at the core of the CATIA feature based modelling.
Feature-Based Modelling:
Parametric Design:
The interrelationships between features allow the model to become
parametric. So, if you alter one feature and that change directly
affects other related (dependent) features,
then CATIA dynamically changes those related features.
This parametric ability maintains the integrity of the part
and preserves your design intent.
Associativity:
