TASK 1: DETERMINATION OF REFRACTIVE INDEX OF GLASS USING SNELL’S

LAW

1. Donned the PPEs as per the OSHA 3

guidelines (wore; lab coat, closed shoes)
(Award 1 mark for each PPE donned )
2. Set up the apparatus by assembling the 3
glass block, soft board, optical pins and a
plain sheet of paper.
(Award 3 marks for assembling)
3. Pinned the plain sheet of paper using thumb 5
nails and traced the outcome of glass block
using a pencil.
(Award 5 marks for correct procedure or zero)
4. Drew a normal line and measured <i of any 6
value before fixing at least two optical pins
along the line of incident ray.
(Award 3 marks for each correct activity or
zero)
5. Viewed the two pins in (4) above from the 6
other side of the glass block and aligned
two other optical pins using a search pin.
