Second Conditional
We use this conditional to talk about imaginary situations in the present or the future.

● To write positive and negative sentences, we have to follow the structures below. We
can start with the CONDITION or the RESULT, the only difference is the comma.

If I were Anna, I would be playing my guitar all day long.


(BUT I’m not Anna, so I’m not playing my guitar all day long.)

I would be playing my guitar all day long if I were Anna.

● To write questions, we have to change the order of the parts ONLY in the result
section.

● WATCH OUT! We can use WAS or WERE with the pronouns I, she, he and it. The
difference is that WERE is more formal and it’s more commonly used with I.
