2. Grammar clues.
Present simple:

To talk about our families and to make comparisons between people we usually use the
Simple Present Tense.

For example, when we say; “I live in Castilla with my siblings who are Marcel and Fred.
We work at a hospital. We like the same kind of food, but we prefer different kinds of
movies. Fred plays soccer, but Marcel does not like sports at all. Do you have siblings?”

*Besides we use this tense to describe a habitual activity or routine.

2.1. Present simple- Affirmative:

Take a look at the following examples:

Add an “s” to verbs ending in consonant and “e” (like, live, love, rent, put, sweep)

Example:

Marcos drives his car to Rionegro on weekends to see his mom.

Add “es” to verbs ending in “ss, sh, ch, x, z, o” (kiss, wash, watch, fix, buzz, go, do)

Example:

Karla watches tv with her mom at night.

Add “s” to verbs ending in “y” preceded by a vowel (play, enjoy, say. And add “ies” to
verbs ending in “y” preceded by a consonant (cry, spy, fly, try).

2.2. Present simple- Negative:

Take a look at the following examples:

Use the base form of the verb when using a negative form.

2.3. Present simple- Questions and answers:

Take a look at the following examples:

* Use the base form of the verb when you make questions.
*” Wh” questions go before the auxiliaries “Do or Does”

 4. Clues in context

Although they are twin brothers and

they have many things in common
they are also very different. They
are both 28 years old, and both of
them live in Ottawa Canada. They
look alike because they both have
black eyes and short dark hair; they
are tall and have light skin. However,
they like different kinds of music;
Marcus likes Hip Hop and Folk
music, while Mateo likes
Instrumental music and classical.

They visit the same places on vacations because they both like to go to the beach, but
they go to different kinds of restaurants since Marcos like seafood, but Mateo is
vegan. In addition, their hobbies are also very different, while Marcus enjoys being with
his fiancée and going dancing, Mateo prefers being in silence and solitude meditating or
reading a nice book. Who do you identify with? Marcos or Mateo?

5. Use the clues

5.1. Now it is your turn to tell us about you. Write a paragraph similar to the previous
one telling us about your family and comparing yourself with one of your relatives. Write
