The origin of the name Computer.

The word "computer" comes from the Latin word
computer, which means "to calculate", "to count", "to
think", or "to sum up". The word "computer" was first
used in 1613 to describe someone who performed
calculations. It continued to be used in this sense until
the 1950s.

What is a computer?
A computer is a machine used to manipulate data or
information and perform mathematical and logical
operations. Modern computers perform a wide range of
tasks, store retrieve, and process information. Using a
computer, we can create/modify documents,
send/receive emails, browse information on the internet,
and play video games. After the invention of computer
science and technology became too advanced. Today we
cannot imagine growing our technology without
computers.
 Features of Computer

The various components of the computer system are classified

into two groups.
Hardware | software
Hardware:
Hardware is the physical tangible component of the computer system.
This type of component is touchable. CPU, Mouse, Keyboard are
examples of hardware components. So, the hardware of the computer
system are:

1. Data/information in the CPU (Central Processing

Unit). Mouse, Keyboard, scanner, barcode reader are
general examples of input devices.
2. Output Device: Output devices input the processed
data/information into human-readable form.
Monitor, speaker, projector, printer are general
examples of output devices.
3. Central Processing Unit (CPU): The CPU is referred to
as the brain of a computer system. It is used to
processed data/information Input Device: Input
devices allow the user to enter and provides output
to output devices. The CU (control unit), ALU
(arithmetic and logical unit), and registers are
components of the CPU.
4. Storage: In a computer, storage devices are used to
store the data or information that entered into the
computer system and the output comes from
processing the information or data.
Software:
Software is a set of instructions, data or programs used to
operate computers and execute specific tasks. It is the opposite
of hardware, which describes the physical aspects of a
computer. Software is a generic term used to refer to
applications, scripts and programs that run on a device. It can
be thought of as the variable part of a computer, while
hardware is the invariable part.
Computer Network:
In today’s digitally interconnected world, computer networking
devices play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless communication
and data exchange. From the moment we log onto the internet
to send an email, stream a video, or access a website,
networking devices are working behind the scenes to make it all
happen. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at what computer
networking devices are, how they function, and the essential
roles they play in modern technology.
