UN-ZIP THE DOWNLOAD

You must unzip the entire download. ZIP files are compressed files that make
downloading many documents at once possible. Trying to print files directly from an
uncompressed .ZIP will cause errors.

For Windows users: For Mac users:

Right-click & select "Extract All" Double-click the .ZIP file

OPEN PDF FILES IN A PDF READER

You will need a PDF reader to view and print the PDF documents.
We recommend the FREE PDF reader from Adobe called Acrobat Reader:
Desktop: https://get.adobe.com/reader/
Mobile: https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/mobile/acrobat-reader.html

DO NOT USE MICROSOFT WORD OR A WEB BROWSER TO PRINT THE PATTERN.

Word processors do not have native PDF support & will distort pattern vector lines.
Web Browsers don’t offer all the print settings needed.

LOCATE THE INSTRUCTIONS & SUPPLIES LIST

Instructions and supplies are located in the document labeled 'READ ME' in the main
folder of the download. If you can not locate this file, make sure to 'extract all'
contents when unzipping the download & expand out your file browser window so
that you can see the full name of each document.

(Note: A few of our oldest patterns contain both a Read Me PDF & Instructions PDF.)

LOCATE YOUR PATTERN SIZE
Each size included with this pattern has its own PDF file. Print-at-home sized PDF
files are located in the main folder of the download. Compare your measurements to
the size chart located in the READ ME document to select which size to print.
Note: These PDF pattern files are 10" high x 7.5" wide per page so that they fit
centered on both Letter or A4 papers. No nested patterns are provided or available.

LOCATE & PRINT LARGE FORMAT PRINTER FILES

When available, Large Format Printer Files are located in a folder labeled 'Large
Format Printer Files' inside the main folder of the download. Using them is
optional but they require less time & effort to tape together. Note: not all
patterns include these files.

In the US, these are the big 36"x 48" sized sheets used for blueprints. These PDFs
can be printed at any local copy shop or online printer that offers blueprints or
plotter printing. You'll want to select A0 (international standard) or Arch E (US
Standard) sized paper. Request to print the documents at 100% scale. Note: These
PDFs are 32" high x 46" wide per page so they fit on either A0 or Arch E papers.

PRINTER SETTINGS

DO:
Read & follow the 'Print Assembly Guide' inside the READ ME document.
Set Print scale to 100% or 'Actual Size' in the print menu.
Use 'Standard' print quality when available.
Set page orientation to 'Center on Page' or 'Auto' so the pattern is centered on
the pages.
When available, choose the paper source by PDF page size if your test prints are
not to scale. Page size can override scale settings.

DONT:
Do not use 'Draft' print quality settings as they may not print lighter grey
pattern markers and lines.
Do not use 'Borderless' print settings. It will override the print scale settings.
Do not print in greyscale, if possible. Some pattern markers are in red and blue
to stand out.

WINDOWS USERS:
Please make sure to update your printer drivers to the newest version provided
by the printer’s manufacturer.
Check that your printer's default settings are set to print at '100% scale' or to
'No Scale', instead of 'Scale to Page'. Your printer's default settings can override
the scale settings in the PDF reader's print menu, and may cause the document
to print out at the wrong scale if not corrected. This is a known issue for
Windows 11 users.

HOW TO TRANSLATE PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

This pattern was made by a team of 2 English speakers so we are not able to offer
our patterns in any other languages. This is why we note that our patterns and
instructions are written in English in our item descriptions.
However, you are welcome to translate instruction documents by running them
through Google Translation, which is fast & free:

Note: We do not recommend running the pattern files through this translator as it
effects the document layout & will alter the patterns. Use it with the Read Me
document only.
