3 DRAINAGE
3.1 Run off from the camp site is properly controlled?
3.2 Natural run off in the area has not been impeded?
4 ACCESS ROADS
4.1 Access roads are clearly demarcated and have been
communicated to drivers using them?
4.2 No vehicles standing or operating out of the works areas
thereby damaging the surrounding environment?
4.3 Any damage to any roads?
5 SOCIAL / COMMUNITY
5.1 The site camp works area is suitably fenced off where
necessary / barricades put in place?
5.2 Suitable signage is put in place where necessary to warn
persons / the surrounding community?
5.3 Complaints from the surrounding community are being
recorded?
5.4 No damage to existing infrastructure? (water, electricity,
telephone or other services?)
6 LIGHTING
6.1 Energy is not being wasted through the use of unnecessary
lighting?
6.2 Fluorescent / energy saving lightbulbs are used wherever
possible?
6.3 Broken or missing light bulbs are replaced?
7 FIRE CONTROL
7.1 Fires are only made in designated areas?
7.2 Waste is not being burned?
7.3 Fire-fighting equipment is readily available?
8 FACILITIES
8.1 Portable toilets are serviced regularly (emptied) at
appropriate intervals?

8.2 Septic tanks where necessary are being emptied at
appropriate intervals to prevent overfilling?
8.3 No wastewater or sewer lines run into storm water drains?
9 LITTER AND WASTE
9.1 Waste and litter is being discarded into suitable waste bins?

10.1 Are standard operating hours being adhered to 07h00 to
17h00.
10.2 All mobile plant and construction vehicles are fitted with
exhaust silences?
11 PESTS AND DISEASES
11.1 Pests and vermin are removed as necessary by pest control
contractors?
11.2 Pest control contractors use environmentally friendly
methods?
11.3 Living / accommodation areas are clean and maintained
and hygienic
12 DUST CONTROL
12.1 Wetting down is taking place as necessary to control dust?
13 FAUNA
13.1 Fences are secure?
13.2 Wildlife is not being disturbed / hunted or otherwise
seriously impacted on?
14 FLORA
14.1 No alien invasive plants have been introduced?
14.2 Workers and machinery operate only in areas falling within
the scope of works, and are kept out of the surrounding
environment?
14.3 Workers are not chopping down trees or collecting wood
for fire?
14.4 No plants or trees are removed which do not fall within the
scope of works?
15 ARCHAEOLOGICAL / HERITAGE SITES, GRAVES
15.1 Have any archaeological / heritage (or potential) sites been
impacted or uncovered?
16 BULK ABOVE GROUND STORAGE (DIESEL TANK)
16.1 The base is firm and continuous concrete, and has no cracks
or breaks?
16.2 Bund walls are plastered on the inside of the brick wall and
is leak free?
16.3 Valve or stopcock placed, to allow draining of rain water?
17 LEAKS
17.1 Mobile plant and construction vehicles are not leaking oil?
17.2 Drip trays are available and being used to prevent soil
contamination?

17.3 Diesel tank and pump are not leaking diesel?
17.4 Containers in stores do not have leaks, and are not left
open where they could be bumped over?
18 HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE CONTAINERS
18.1 Containers are correctly labeled as to their contents?
18.2 Containers have proper lids fitted in place, and are kept
upright?
18.3 Are MSDS available and are containers stored according to
the manufacturers recommendations.
19 WATER
19.1 No pollution of water courses is taking place? (wastewater
fed into streams, rivers, etc.)
19.2 Water crossings are not designed in a manner which
obstructs the normal flow of water?
19.3 No taps, fittings or other pipe work is leaking?
20 AIR
20.1 There is no excessive exhaust smoke from mobile plant or
construction vehicles?
20.2 No excessive dust from construction processes?
(demolition, mixing plant, crushing plant, etc.)
20.3 No fires burning hazardous waste or tires which can pollute
the air?
21 AESTHETICS & AWARENESS
21.1 Are staff aware of the Environmental Plan and the need for
protecting the environment?
21.2 The site area is maintained in such a way that it is visually
acceptable?
21.3 No persons urinate or defecate in any other area, except
those which have been designated?
21.4 Where necessary screening is put in place?
