FIELD WORK TRAINING
LIBRARY INFORMATION AND
SCIENCE
From a series of Field Work Practice
activities that take place from October 30,
2022 to November 1, 2022. Semester III
students enter 3 days of implementation,
which is the first opportunity.
The focus of our field work training trips
visited 3 main locations including UGM
Library, Grhatama DIY Library, Diorama
Archive DIY. Also, in addition to the main
place, we also visited a tourist spot called
Taman Sari and Malioboro.
Introduction to Gadjah Mada
University Library
The development of the early
library was founded on March 1, 1951 on
Panembahan Senopati street Yogyakarta
and was established when the UGM
campus was still in the Kraton area.
On July 31, 1975. The UGM
Library received an additional building in
Bulaksumur, later named UG, Library Unit
I. It is located south of the UGM Central
Building and has a construction area of
2.883 m2.
Based on UGM Prime Minister
Decree Number : According to the Decree
No. 200/P/SK.HT/2008 fated May 9, 2008,
the libraries of the UGM graduate school
are unified in the management and use of
the school library and serve as the UGM
Unit III library with area 1.782 m2.
Facilities and Infrastructure
The Library within Gadjah Mada
University has been categorized into one
Central Library, eighteen Faculty
Libraries, twenty-one Study Center
Libraries, two Vocational School Libraries
and Jakarta Campus Library.

collection which showed a print collection
of textbook amount 337,177 titles /
524.582 copies and a reference book
amount 42,790 titles / 63,410 copies. The
print periodical collection consists of local
newspapers including one title, national
newspapers including five titles, scientific
journals including 1649 titles and popular
journals including 637 titles.
Information and communication
technology facilities supported by printers
laserjet, deskjet, inkjet, thermal, Scanners
(Flat, ADF, ScanSnap, Barcode, Smart
Card Reader), Smart TV, LED TV, LED
Monitor, Tube TV, Home Theatre, DVD
Player and CCTV.

Finding and Discussion
UGM Library is a reading
academic library with a global outlook.
Libraries should be served more by
helping librarians get the information they
need to access and make their small
contribution to the library building.
The vision of Gadjah Mada
University Library is to be reliable in
supporting innovative education, learning
and research that contributes to the
advancement of science and society.

Introduction to Grhatama Pustaka DIY
Grhatama Pustaka DIY is the name
of the library service building owned by
the regional government of the Special
Region Yogyakarta. The name was given
directly by Governor DIY for the library
which is located at Janti Banguntapan
Street, Bantul. This library service
building is a blend of modern and
traditional concepts.
The Yogyakarta City Library has
evolved, such as when the capital was
moved to Jakarta is no longer the main
library but a provincial library with three
libraries that used which were previously
libraries before the existence of Grhatama
Pustaka exists, specifically the Modern
Learning House which facilitates children
and those who want to study again, Jogja
Library Center in Malioboro and
Grahatama Pustaka.
Grhatama Pustaka DIY as an
International Standard Learning Center as
a means to realize a learning community of
character and culture. Grhatama Pustaka
DIY refers to public libraries that serve all
walks of life including children, young
adults, adults, parents and people with
special needs.
Facilities and Infrastructure
Referring to facilities, some
Grhatama Pustaka DIY has many
facilities. There is free access to the
internet, Gazebos, Auditorium, Audio
Visual Room, Prayer room, Discussion
Room and Seminar.
Collected materials from new to
rare books consisting of printed and digital
books, as well as collections of
information collected overtime both in
book form and have undergone
digitization.
This library is built on an area of
2.4 hectares and has four towers that
reflect the special spirit of Yogyakarta and
the Javanese philosophy of perfecting
people namely Prakoso means mighty,
Wulung means eagle, Wangi which means
fragrant and Agung which means big.
Finding and Discussion
Designed to meet the needs of
education, research, preservation,
information and entertainment for the
general public. Grhatama Pustaka is
expected to be an educational
entertainment destination for those of DIY
and its surrounding to achieve the highest
degree through the knowledge stored in
the various collections of Grhatama
Pustaka as to create a learning society with
identity and culture.
According to Public service
facilities, that function as libraries as well
as interesting places for educational
institutions, research references,
information preservation and
entertainment for the public from various
backgrounds and also different age groups.
Introduction to Diorama Arsip DIY

The unique Yogyakarta archive
named Diorama Museum summarizes 430
years of DIY travel histories. Yogyakarta
interactive archive has just been opened by
Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwana X in early
March 2022. The Diorama model is
located in the DIY DPAD archive
building, behind the Grhatama Pustaka.

The Diorama histories tells the
story of Yogyakarta’s founding from the
Panembahan Senopati period of the DIY
Privileges. The history of Yogyakarta for
about 430 years is summarized in 18
rooms on one floor of the DIY DPAD
building. Construction of the deep range
model will be completed in early
December and will be inaugurated in
February 2022.
Finding and Discussion
The Jogja Archive Diorama can be
visited by the general public and was built
to provide understanding and education to
the public about the importance of using
archives. Interesting insights knowing
more about history can add knowledge at
the same time.
Conclusion
It can be concluded, the purpose of
report text is to receive learning from
street vendors to provide in-depth
knowledge. Various historical knowledge
and information through the tour results.
Successfully create a new learning and
discovery environment.
As a result, In general, science is
global. We as students majoring in library
science should not only study the table of
contents (catalogs) or classifications for
sure the trend, visitors know is decreasing
because it is all digital and needs
anticipation.
Given the importance of
Yogyakarta library for all means
maintaining it as an educated city with
Yogyakarta integrated library system. This
development is the best public service
innovation. Meanwhile, based on building
something that includes information
systems, service circulation and databases
there needs to be unified standards.
