Name of Activity- Introducing the mood meter


Originating Idea- Students will check into the mood meter by placing their letter link on
the feeling they are feeling.

Beginning of Activity-
Begin by reading the book The Color Monster
Opening statement
Now that we have read The Color Monster I want to show you something called the
Mood Meter. On the mood meter you can tell me how you are feeling just by placing
your name on the color that you are feeling. Yellow means happy, Green means calm,
Red means Mad and Blue means sad.
Middle of Activity
Early: Student stick their name on a color at random.
Middle:. Student stick their name on the color they are feeling and label the emotion.
Later: Student stick their name on the color they are feeling and label the emotion and
give a reason why they are feeling that way.
End of Activity-
Closing statement
Now when we are feeling upset or angry we can come over and check into the mood meter
so that everyone knows how we are feeling.
