La Llorona

Once upon a time, in a rural village in Mexico, there lived a beautiful

woman named Maria. She was the most beautiful girl in the town with
stunning long, flowing black hair and captivating eyes. Maria was
known for her beauty and grace throughout the region, and men from
various places came to seek her hand in marriage.

Among her suitors was a handsome and wealthy nobleman from a

neighboring town. He was smitten by Maria’s beauty and charm, and
soon they were married. They had two children and lived happily for
some time.

However, as years passed, the nobleman spent less and less time at
home, often traveling for his work. One day, he returned home with a
younger woman by his side, ignoring Maria completely. Heartbroken
and filled with rage, Maria took her children to the river and drowned
them in a fit of madness.

Regretting her actions almost immediately, she ran down the banks of
the river crying and wailing in sorrow, but it was too late. Her children
were gone. Overwhelmed by grief and guilt, she drowned herself in the
same river.

Since then, it is said that Maria’s spirit wanders near water bodies at
night, weeping for her children. She is known as “La Llorona”, the
Weeping Woman. People believe that hearing her cries is a bad omen.
