Solving Two-Step Equations

This lesson was designed for my students to work together, but also be able to work on their
own. This lesson has components of both group work and individual work.

Students will be able to solve for the variable when given a Two-Step Equation

Materials:

1. Partner Play document (Printed)

2. Writing utensils

Procedure:

1. Anticipatory Set: Directions written on whiteboard “Partner up and get


packet from front of room”
2. Will give verbal instructions, “Today you will be continuing to practice
solving two step equations. You should all be in groups of two. One of you,
will be “Player A” and the other will be “Player B”. You will share the
answer sheet. You will solve each problem on your own paper, and
between each question, compare answers with your partner. You will not
have the same equation, but you should get the same answer. If you don’t
get the same answer, please work together to figure it out. Any questions?”
3. Walk around room to check in individually with each group and monitor
their progress
