Story Problems Escape Room

Technology is a large part of today’s world, and the students love it. I used an escape
room template to allow the students to tap into their love of technology and apply it to
what they have been learning in math.

Objective:

Students will be able to write an equation/inequality and solve it when given a real-world
situation.

Procedure:

1. Anticipatory Set- Written on white board “Open up “escape room” and get a piece
of scrap paper”
2. Spoken instructions: “Today you will be doing an escape room! As with the
previous one, make sure you read each question fully and the DIRECTIONS. I
will be collecting your work page. You need to write an inequality or equation for
each question and SOLVE. Make sure to show all of your work. Good luck!”
3. Students will complete the below escape room independently

Assessment:

I will collect their work page as a formative assessment. I will also do informal check-ins
with each students while they work on their escape rooms.
