Conversation 2

Operator: Emergency services, how can I help?

Man: Hello, it’s my son. He’s having an allergic reaction.

Operator: We’ll send an ambulance. Do you have an EpiPen to give him a shot?

Conversation 3

Receptionist: Can you tell me what happened?

Man: My dad was fixing the roof and fell. I think he has dislocated his shoulder.

Receptionist: OK. Take a seat over there and the doctor will see him soon.

Doctor: ... Right, Mr. Walker. I want you to keep your arm in this sling for a few days,
OK? And no more playing around on the roof! You were very lucky!

Conversation 4

Man: Hi, I was making dinner and I scalded my arm badly.

Receptionist: OK, please follow me to the burn unit.

Nurse: ... I’ve put some ointment and dressing on. I want you to replace it in a couple
of days. And be careful in the shower. You should put a plastic bag around
the dressing.

Conversation 5

Paramedic: It was a bad fall, but you were lucky. It seems you have only sprained your
ankle.
Woman: Do I need to go to the hospital?

Paramedic: No, but you shouldn’t be alone either. Is there anyone you can call to spend
the night with you?
Woman: Yes, I’ve already called my daughter.

Paramedic: Good. Just keep your foot elevated and you can take a painkiller if necessary.
