1.2 Function instruction

Standard function

1、Automatic run

When inspection/automatic input point is effective (switch closed), it is automatic mode. Under this mode,
switch the key and set escalator running direction. When the buzzer is ringing, release the key and the escalator
starts. Key switch is self reset type one.

2、Inspection run

When inspection/automatic input point is invalid (switch open), it is inspection mode. Point move running
can be controlled by inspection handle up and down running button.

3、VVVF drive mode and star-delta drive mode

Users can choose star-deltar mode or VVVF mode by parameters (detail in chapter 7).

If parameter is 0,it is VVVF mode.

If parameter is 2,it is star-delta mode.

4、Relaxation mode

It is divided into Relaxation low speed mode and relaxation stop mode. It can be set by parameter (detail in
chapter 8). If set the parameter 0, it is no relaxation. Other sets are as follows:
Star-delta mode: relaxation stop mode only, set parameter 2.
VVVF mode: if it is relaxation low speed mode, set parameter 1; relaxation stop mode 2.

5、Fault history record

It can record maximum 50 piece of fault code, happening date and time.

6、Maual stop

Turn the key to the direction opposite to running direction for 3s, the escalator will stop automaticly.Under
VVVF drive mode, it is soft stop and the sequence is the same as No.3 relaxation stop, which is relaxaztion low
speed before stop. Under star-delta drive mode, it stops directly.

7、Fault stop

The escalator will stop directly after detecting fault. All output points will be cut off (auxiliary brake cut
delay).

8、Automatic oiling(automatic lubrication)

Under automatic operation, the system can oil by itself. Set oiling time and gap time by parameter (detail in
chapter 8). If power off in the middle run, the program will record running hour automaticly and continue to add it
when power on, deviation is within 1 hour.

9、Running direction indication

-2-
扶梯控制系统

Running direction signal is output by relay and indicated by external pilot light.

10、Alarm bell

Under automatic condition, start key switch, the buzzer will ring. Under relaxation condition, the buzzer will
ring if people enter in the opposite direction. Ringing time can be set by parameter (detail in chapter 8). If safety
circuit is open, the buzzer rings.
Inspection starts, the buzzer rings, and ringing time can be set by parameter (detail in chapter 8).

11、Fire function

Under fire function, take actions depend on the type of escalator.

Fire escalator: cancel relaxation function in dispersion direction, run the escalator in full speed. Escalator
opposite the dispersion will run normally.
Not fire escalator: run normally.

12、Motor thermal protection

When motor thermal switch input is effective, the escalator will stop with fault, and it recovers automaticly
after switch input reset.

13、auxiliary brake

Normally, auxiliary brake delayed work to increase brake results after power off. If auxiliary brake is
installed, enable the function by setting Bit 0 of F12 as 1.

Inspection condition:

Down running: if auxiliary brake is not open, the escalator can up run first, and down run after opening.
Up run: open the auxiliary brake directly.
The opened auxiliary brake will not be closed after inspection.

Automatic comdition:

Turn around the key switch, and the auxiliary brake is open.
Down run: if auxiliary brake is not open, the escalator can up run first, and down run after opening.
Whether the auxiliary brake is open or not, the escalator will up run both, and then check the auxiliary brake
switch, the escalator will stop if the switch can’t be stopped in 3s. If it is failed after trying 3 times, reset it by
cutting power.
Relaxaztion escalator: the auxiliary brake will not be released. In normal stop, auxiliary brake delayed
release.

14、Water level detection

When water level input point is effective, the escalator will stop with fault report.

15、Oil level detection

When oil level is too low, and oil detection input is effective, the controller output fault information to
remind user to oil. The escalator still can run. Automatic oiling become invalid if oil level is too low. It can
recover after switch input reset.

16、Brake abrasion detection

When brake abrasion switch input is effective, the escalator will stop with fault report. It can recover after
-3-
switch input reset.

17、Over speed or running direction non-operation reversion protection

1)Cut off the power of motor and brake before step speed reach 120% of nominal speed. Restart it after

manual reset.

2)Cut off the power of motor, brake and auxiliary brake before step speed reach 140% of nominal speed.

Restart it after manual reset.

3)When reversion occurs, cut off the power of motor, brake and auxiliary brake. Restart it after manual reset.

Reversion depends on:

a)Signals of speed monitoring sensor A and B are in opposite directions, that is the escalator being reversal;

b)In normal running, the speed will decrease from rated relaxation speed to 1/3 relaxation speed, which is

the escalator being reversial.

18、Auxiliary brake detection

Auxiliary brake shoud act under following 3 conditions:

1)over speed 140%

2)reversion

3)drive chain is disconnect

Check whether the status of auxiliary brake switch and contactor is correct (check whether the auxiliary
brake is in normal operation). If it is not in normal run, cut off the power of motor and working brake to prevent
escalator restarting.

19、Main drive chain broken protection

Cut off the power of motor, brake and auxiliary brake after detecting the disconnect drive chain, and restart it
after manual reset.

20、Step or tread missing protection

If missing step or tread is detected, cut off power of motor and working brake, and restart it after manual
reset.

21、Working brake detection

When running contactor is closed, the normal closed point of working brake detecting switch should be
disconnect, normal open be closed.
When running contactor is disconnect, the normal closed point of working brake detecting switch should be
closed, normal open be disconnect.
If the real condition is not the same as required status when the escalator or moving walkway starts, cut off
the power of motor and working brake, restart it after manual reset.

-4-
扶梯控制系统

22、Handrail under speed protection

When the handrail speed is 15% over the step speed lasting 15s, cut off the power of motor and working
brake.

23、Inspection cover detection

Make sure whether escalator or moving walkway is in inspection or automate by condition of inspection
switch. The cover can be opened normally in inspection condition; once the cover is opened in normal condition,
cut off the power of motor and working brake.

24、Maximun stop distance detection

When then actual brake distance is 1.2 time of the allowed maximum distance, keep the escalator stop and
restart it after manual reset.

25、Linkage function

Linkage function can be realized by setting escalator location through parameter (detail in chapter 8). Set
escalator location by parameter after the function is actived to realize the linkage function (detail in chapter 8). Up
running escalators can run up under any condition; down running escalators can run down at any time. In other
condtion, if running direction is up and the escalator of exit direction is stop, then the escalator stop immediately.
In static condition, if escalator of exit direction is stop, try to start for 2mins, if it doesn’t run, stop the escalator.

26、Dynamic password

1)Main board running time CN and the instant time of operator can be monitored in the interface of

monitoring status. The data should be input in special machine and work out dynamic password SP, using SP
restart the operator can provide superauthority.

2)dynamic password is effective in half an hour, users can repeat login with the same password in half an

hour.

3)The software is suit for Windows XP,Windows CE,Windows 7 systems.

4)Escalator running times can not be reset. Reset can only be done by sending the main board to the factory

or skilled personel working in site.

Optional function

F2——rated speed 1 of escalator. The range is 1~2000, unit is 0.001m/s, that is 0.001m/s~2m/s.

F3——rated speed 2. Some projects require two escalator running speeds (switch by outside switch). Forexample,
the rated speed is 0.6m/s, and it is required to run at 0.5m/s. This value is used to set the second speed of

escalator. Range is 1~2000, unit is 0.001m/s, that is 0.001m/s~2m/s.

F4——inspect rated speed, that is inspection speed. Range is 1~2000, unit is 0.001m/s, that is 0.001m/s~2m/s.

F5——relaxation slow speed time. That is speed entering relaxation slow speed status only for escalators with
relaxation slow speed.
F6——pulse per circle. That is pulse number input from each speed sensor when main drive wheel turns one
circle. It is gear number of main drive wheel.
F7——running distance per circle. That is escalator running distance when main drive wheel turns one

circle.range is 1~10000, unit is 0.001m, that is 0.001m~10m.

F8——step has no pulse distance, that is the running distance between two step signals. This is the reference

value to judge step missing. Range is 1~2000, unit is 0.001m, that is 0.001m~2m. Normally, set the value as 1.5

times of distance between steps.

F9——perimeter of handrail wheel. Range is 1~1000, unit is 0.001m. that is 0.001m~1m.

F10——pulse number of handrail wheel. That is pulse number input from each speed sensor when main drive
wheel turns one circle.
F11——speed detection delay.
F12——slow speed protection delay.

-44-
Escalator control system

In addition to rated uniform speed, escalator has 0 speed to full speed, full speed to relaxation speed,
relaxation slow speed to stop of acceleration and deceleration progress (as the T1,T2,T3 shows). During the speed
changing, it can not be detectioned by uniform speed measures, in case to trigger the under speed fault. Set
transmission section time by F11, do not trigger under speed protection, and take the maximum value in T1, T2,
T3.
When escalator is in soft stop, stop time is relatively long. Under this condition, the reversal protection may
be triggered (one of the judge terms of reverse is the speed drop from rated speed to under 1/3 relaxation speed
when the escalator is in normal running). So set delay time between 1/3 relaxation speed to stop, during this time
(time period response to T4), reversal protection will not happen.

10 Tuning instructions

10.1 Basic steps for tuning SL3000

Table 10.1 Basic steps for tuning SL3000

No.
Parameter restoration: Press “Enter” at the interface of Status Monitoring to log onto the Function Menu; then
1 opt for “Restoration Order” to input the check code into “Restoration of Control Parameter” until “Successful
Restoration” is displayed.
Fault restoration: Press “Enter” at the interface of Status Monitoring to log onto the Function Menu; then opt for
2 “Restoration Order” to input the check code into “Restoration of Fault Code” until “Successful Restoration” is
displayed.
Parameter setting: F parameters are set as follows:
Set the bit 1 of F12 as *, which means that restoration is available when there are adhesive failures. Tuning
time can thus be saved as there is no need for power-off restoration when adhesive failures happen.
Set the bit0 of F12 as ‘*’ when the escalator is equipped with additional brakes and a failure to do so may cause
gear or switch damage when the escalator is running. Set the bit0 of F12 as ‘-’ when the escalator is not
equipped with any additional brakes.
3 Set F0 as 0 with purely variable frequency escalators and set it as 2 with star-deltas.
Normally “on” and “off” setting of input points: X16 (contactor detection) is set as a normally “on” point and
the rest of input points are set according to the following principle: all points with effective input when the
system is normally powered shall be set as normally “off” (‘*’) and the rest shall be set as normally “on” (‘-’).
Points of SM.02/G that are never used (such as upper right comb switch) can be separated from the acquisition
board and shall be set as normally “off” in the F parameters.
Other parameters can be set according to on-site requirements, which would have no influence on the tuning.
Trouble shooting: Fault restoration is needed when the above setting is completed. Then power the main-board
4 and check if there are troubles. If there are, shoot the troubles according to displayed fault codes and handle
them according to detailed fault code specifications.
