Intro
Let's talk about CSR corporate social responsibility. What exactly does it mean ?
Global warning, diminued Natural Resources, the extinction of various animal and plant species, global
population increase and migration…. amongst others, these are some of the real environmental and social issues
we face today. How can we address these issues whilst ensuring food education and health for all. How can we
ensure the economic development and technical logical progress benefit the greatest number of people ? Faced
with these challenges a more sustainable developmental approach becomes necessary.
This requires the commitment of all international organizations, governments, associations, companies,
citizens...everyone is concerned.
What is CSR
And in practice, what can a company do ? The overall goal is to combine economic progress, social justice and
environmental preservation.
Based on its corporate social responsibility, a company can ensure that its economic growth is beneficial to
everyone: its suppliers, employees, customers, the local population…. in short, all its stakeholders, whilst
minimizing its impacts on the planet. Depending on the sector of activity, the specific issues and challenges differ
from company to company: Let's take a pharmaceutical company. It can act responsibly in many ways, for
example offering as many people as possible safe and quality medicines. Take into account the needs of patients
by supporting them throughout their healthcare. And for all companies, being responsible also means taking care
of its employees and ensuring their safety at work. It also means being compliant with the application of the
various laws and regulations as well as defining ethical business practices. It also means reducing the
environment or impacts of its production sites and choosing less polluting modes of transport. Thus the ambition
for a responsible company is to contribute to an economically efficient socially equitable and environmentally
sustainable development, whilst ensuring its profitability and economic growth.
As such, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is now recognized as a real performance driver, particularly
because it encourages innovation, reduces costs and brings employees together around a meaningful project.
Within our daily activities, both individually or collectively, we can all be part of this evolution and that's
what's really inspiring.
Saham GROUP
Saham Group is an African investment company that operates in a variety of essential human industries and
services. Driven by its strong entrepreneurial approach, Saham first began in the insurance sector, eventually
becoming Africa’s industry leader.
The Group has grown to become an international player with expertise in a variety of sectors, leveraging
strategic targeted partnerships in sectors such as customer experience services/BPO, real estate, education,
agriculture, pharmaceuticals, media, and healthcare.
With the Saham Foundation, they hope to pool the expertise necessary to find innovative solutions to the new
social challenges that our local populations are facing. Created in 2008, the Saham Foundation is a non-profit
organization, recognized as being of public utility since November 2017. In line with its values, the Saham
Foundation seeks to have a positive social impact and to deploy solidarity and charitable actions focused on
vulnerable populations in Morocco and in Sub-Saharan Africa. In all discretion, the Saham Foundation
concentrates its efforts and expertise to find innovative solutions to the new social challenges facing the most
disadvantaged populations.
In Morocco :
Since 2013, 24 actions have been organized by the Foundation at the end of December 2019 for a total of
35,317 beneficiaries, acting for health in Morocco.
These actions majoritarily consist of actions in schools, where medical examinations are provided to students,
as well as pairs of glasses, and volunteer doctors. Campaigns are made to sensibilize people and make them
aware of oral hygiene.
One of these solidarity days were organized by the Saham Foundation, in partnership with Phonedation, a
network of Majorelle Maroc volunteers. The volunteer team was in charge of running fun workshops for
children throughout the caravan.
Employees
The company didn't forget her employees: we can find a healthy, stimulating work environment that promotes
the personal and professional development of its employees. Recruitment of new talents and training adapted
to skills development and personalized career management. Meritocracy system: Rating, bonuses,
congratulations, end of year gifts. Team building and group activities. Company culture transmitted to
employees under the best possible conditions, in particular through the Jami3an 2022 project. Finally, outings
and trips offered to the children of employees.
Women’s day
The role of the mother, often underestimated, is nevertheless a vector of peace: on the strength of this
conviction the NGOs Make Mothers Matters and Care International Maroc organized a conference on the
theme #Mothers4Peace. This event was held under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on
May 3 and 4, 2018 in Casablanca.
Sponsor of this international event, the Saham Foundation followed with interest the conferences presented by
a dozen speakers, which are part of a community development process. The recommendations resulting from
these days will be exposed in various international institutions over the coming months.
Conclusion
Deeply human, the actions supported by the Saham Foundation over the past years confirm the importance of
its commitment to promote a responsible and united vision, essential to collective development.
