For Expanding Your Compassion:

01. Start With Yourself


Showing compassion for others is the best way to expand your own
heart, but so is showing compassion to yourself! Did you have a “win”
for the day? Celebrate it by doing something you love or writing down
your success, no matter how big or small. Did you say something that
you wish you hadn’t? Take a moment and acknowledge that, as well as
FORGIVE yourself.

02. Love Languages


Compassion and communication don’t always have to be verbal, and
love languages don’t always have to be practiced on someone else. Of
course, if you have a partner in life, show them compassion in the form
of the love language they understand and accept the most. Having
a hard time showing YOURSELF love? Take a moment and figure out
which love language you prefer to receive from others. Then, think
on how you can practice self-care by showering yourself in the love
language you desire.

03. Encouragement
Is someone around you often showing you or telling you they’re
unsure if they have what it takes to follow a certain path they desire?
The response most people say is, “But you’re great…” “Why would
you feel this way when…” But, that isn’t the best way to approach that
conversation, sometimes. Encouragement in the form of compassion
could get a loved one out of a funk. Not everyone is looking for a pity
party when they open up to you. Sometimes, they’re really needing a
listening ear that is ready to embrace them in all their glory.

01. Journal: Start a gratitude journal and document every day ways you
will show compassion to yourself. Make sure you’re writing in the
present tense! “I am..”

02. Kindness: Have you done your small act of kindness for the day? If
not, it’s never too late in the day to show someone you care.

03. Be Resilient: Are you having those moments where you’re thinking
negatively? Replace any negative thought that comes your way with
an affirmation.

04. Generosity: Are you stingy with your kindness? Do you only do it
for reciprocity?

What does kindness mean to you?

02. Community:
Gratitude is an act of generosity. Spend the time to be present to the
people in your life. See the mailman when they’re delivering your mail
every day? Smile at them and wish them a good day. You never know
