IBS Couplings Troubleshooting
The Impact

Loose coupling will usually cause a “Machine Down” situation due to the
issues below:
• Multiple WHS errors, mainly - IBS1/IBS2 endswitch “empty” overrun
errors.
• Scaling issues
• Web wrap issues
The Cause

Leaking IBS coupling

How To Avoid

• Make sure you use 5Nm torque while tightening the setscrew.
Low pressure will cause coupler to become loose.
High pressure will cause leakage, a guaranteed failure in the future.
• IBS belt tension – should be 20.2-22.3Hz
• If coupling failed – replace it, do not re-use.
How To Test

Make sure you test the correct coupling:

IBS1 motor = exit side of the press
IBS2 motor = input side

Insert allen key to an opening in the coupling to hold it in place then pull
the belt and see if you’re able to move it.
How To Test

You can also try to mark the shaft and the coupling with marker to see if
it’s slipping while running.
How To Test

Slave side and motor side coupling and pulley are interchangeable.
Swap them if you need the working press ASAP.
New Concept

A new concept has been released.

The parts are slowly becoming available.

And finally!
A new concept:
New Concept – Part Numbers

Old coupling – CU150-01133 (Might appear in the UTK as 1500-1133).

New coupling (Comes with pulley) - CT397-30851.

IBS motor with Old style coupling pre-installed – CT345-33380.

IBS motor with New style coupling pre-installed – CT345-61780.

*Part numbers are subject to change.

New Concept

Remember!
The new coupling concept requires a torque of 6.9 Nm

Notice how the two sets of clamp-lock rings are installed.

New Concept

Installation

1. Empty shaft 2. Pulley installed next 3. First clamping set

6. Screw with washers

4. Second clamping set 5. Spacer
plus torque of 6.9Nm
Manual 2nd Transfer
How-to

CA393-00590 – Web Handling System

Manual 2nd
Short description: transfer

• Perform Top Dead Point calibration

• Substrate thickness changed to minimum
• ITM temperature override
• Use UW touch screen to engage/disengage both pneumatic and electronic engages
• Use 2nd transfer adjustable knobs to bring the gap to 0.75-0.80mm
Tools needed

CA045-15732 TDP jig: Manually cut blanket (15mm from both sides):

Feeler gauge:
72x0 Press Impression Engage

• CA040-85300 Image placement jig

How to easily pull out the FP coupling
Pullin FP Coupling Out

CA393-00590 - Web Handling System says to use a hammer and 6mm punch.

Instead - tighten M8 screw

into the coupling, that will
push it out easily.
No need to use a hammer
and excessive force.
