GROUP ANALYSIS

Chosen Song: “Gising na Kaibigan” by Asin

Chosen Poem: Poem No. 1 by Confucius

1. If you will be asked, what is the song/poem about in general based on your own
understanding of it?

Our present world has changed drastically because people have changed their perspectives on
things that surround them. Many are still blind to what is truly happening. Many are deaf to what they
hear about the world. Many of us have forgotten the word "humanity." And so, based on the song,
we understood it as a masterpiece that calls out people to open their hearts and brighten their minds
towards everything that truly matters. It redirects us to a sense of purpose that we need to uphold in
life. These purposes include our role as an individual, a student, a member of the community, and a
disciple of Christ. Life is beautiful when we make everything perfectly fine. We need to change for
good, not to change to the point that every single thing around us will become affected. The song
serves as an eye-opener, too, for us to extend our gratitude for all the heavenly blessings that we
receive and concentrate our minds on becoming people with purpose, where harmony is in our hearts
and humanity is on our minds.

Whereas the poem signifies that change begins with ourselves. As it was stipulated in the last line,
“we must first set our hearts right,” this means that we should focus on setting our hearts towards
goodness and start recalibrating our minds to do better so we will become not just a good member
of society but a bearer of hope as well to everybody. Our world needs us in these contemporary
times. We aim for peace and unity; we wish for harmony and solidarity, so we need to start with
ourselves to see a brighter tomorrow ahead of us. We can make this world a better place if we hold
our hands high, wave the flag of unity, stand together, open our hearts wholeheartedly, and make a
difference to inspire. Once we set our hearts on the right path, everything will follow, and the world
will benefit a lot.
2. What does the song/poem say or trying to say about the following list below? What
meaning can it hold in relation to the list particularly in our experience of them today?

The song can be connected to different aspects of life, in this case,

our connection with our spirituality and to God. The main message
of the song and the poem is finding our purpose and not taking life
for granted. Knowing one’s purpose is a powerful tool for living life
fully. We can do this by strengthening our spirituality and reflecting

“Filipino own minds. and ultimately, to cultivate a sense of gratitude and
(Christian/Catholic) appreciation for the present moment. Once we have cultivated our
Spirituality” minds about our purpose, we can promote the common good, and
that will be a great response to all the graciousness God has given
us. The song encourages the Filipino faithful to strengthen their
spiritual lives and see the goodness in everything, all for the glory
of God.

The song “Gising na Kaibigan” signifies that everyone should not

waste their time and be mindful of the future. In terms of its
message to ourselves, the song wants us to reflect on our
productiveness in life. It continuously asks us if we accomplished
the things we need to achieve, if we already opened our eyes
toward the significance of time, and did we already realize the
beauty of the world around us. It makes us think if we made our

On the other hand, the poem by Confucius relays a message that

before we worry about the bigger problems that we will face or we
are facing, we need to understand ourselves first. We should know
what we are doing and where we are headed with our decisions
before wanting to put other things in order. If we will continue the
mindset of just going with the flow and continues to be concerned
with heavier issues simultaneously without a plan, there is a chance
that we will lose our goal.

Being present, being here right now, is one of the most important
things for our well-being, It allows you to fully engage with and
appreciate the present moment, rather than constantly dwelling on
the past. The song also tells us that as a community, we should

look deep into ourselves and find our purpose in life. It can also
have a positive impact on the community and society: Having a
sense of purpose can motivate people to engage in volunteerism,
activism, and other forms of social engagement that can improve
the lives of others.

The Filipino people are known to be one of the most hospitable

people. Perhaps the Philippines is also one of the most religious
countries in the world. However, through the years, everything has
changed. The song can be a call to our country to wake up; we need
to get the Philippines back to its reputation as a hospitable country,
and we need to open our minds to start changing our differences.
After all, it is the Philippines, our land of birth, that molds us to show
the world what a Filipino identity is. We, Filipinos, need to see the
light that will be good for all; we should not be blindfolded by the

pillars of truthfulness; and we should become better citizens by

better place for Filipinos if we start working on our purpose of
promoting a sense of patriotism and if we choose leaders who are
good enough for the position and who are for the people and the
sovereign. Broaden our minds, break the chains of inequality, and
open the closed doors for the betterment of everyone. Filipinos will
also relate to the poem; it will teach them that change begins with
a single step, and that step is change within yourselves. We believe
that inhumane actions and selfless decisions can create a
disastrous scenario, so let us start building bridges for something
purposeful and meaningful that everyone will benefit.
If we will look at the idea of the poem in terms of its relation to the
environment, it also gives a significant inspiration to people. If we
set our hearts right, we will know the path we are taking toward our
mission in life. Taking small steps towards a goal is a significant
part of achieving it. Regarding the various environmental issues
that the world is facing, people taking small steps to resolve them
will lead to bigger and more effective solutions in the future. If we
want to put the environment in order, we must reflect first on our
actions.
V. To Environment
If we focus on the song's message about the environment, the song
tells us that it is so much better to live every day if we know our
goal. If we focus on the environment, there are times that illegal
events are being held just as waste disposal, climate change,
pollution, and other serious problems. Sometimes, people, people
are blind to these problems and ignore them. However, we should
be mindful of these issues. We need to change, learn, and be aware
of what is happening around us because this will change our
perspective toward our surroundings.
