Presentation of Beatitudes
● The Commandments are the law of God and what his followers should follow
● There are 10 commandments
● The 10 commandments were given by Moses

● The Beatitudes are the blessing Jesus gave us when he was on earth
● There are 9 Beatitudes
● The Beatitudes are:
● Blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, God will satisfy them fully
● Blesses those who are merciful, for God will be merciful on them
● Blesses those who mourned, God will comfort them
● Jesus was the person who gave the Beatitude
● The Beatitudes are the foundation of a life of authentic Christian discipleship
and obtaining ultimate happiness

Rules of Society

● There are rules that are written for people to follow


● But there are also unwritten rules people should already know to follow
● Examples of written rules are:
● You should not commit murder
● You shall not rob
● Examples of unwritten rules are:
● You shouldn’t eat with your mouth open
● Holding the door for someone

● The Concept of Jewish law is basically the Jewish and their commandments
are a guiding way for their daily life

● The Idea of happiness presented in the Beatitude is through God


● Happiness can be obtained through God
● The Beatitude act as a way of giving hope to those who are suffering
● Showing how they are suffering now, God will satisfy you in heaven for their faith
and hard work to help others even if it means that they are suffering

● Mountains are mentioned 500 times within the Bible


● Mountains are places where we are the closest to God and Heaven because we are
so high up on the ground
➔ The significance of Mary as the first disciple (insight into her life/actions)

● Mary's lifestyle is very countercultural


● Mary has many qualities of Disciple traits and she follows all the Beatitude
● Mary lived out the Beatitude of Merciful and Pure in heart
● She has disciple traits of accepting God's Good news of bearing the womb
of Jesus (Luke 1:26-38)
● Another disciple trait is faithful even if being in confusion (Luke 2:41-52)

➔ Understand what it means to be counter-cultural within religious contexts

● Counter-cultural means going against society's belief, want and desire


● Counter-culture with religious context is going and acting against society to
follow and live out the belief of their religion
● Example is society want is materialistic, but God want us to help other even
if it mean going against society belief.
