Name of Activity – Wall paper art

Beginning of Activity
Opening statement
Today I was thinking that we could try to make some art on the wall. I know you all probably
think I am crazy! Mrs. Nychole, we don’t draw on the walls! Well today I have a huge piece of
paper on the wall, and I think it would be fun to make some art on it.

Middle of Activity – (what will the children be doing/saying – how will you transition from
the teaching to the children doing – should read like a script but can be brief)
Early Extension:
Children will scribble on the paper. The teacher should ask the child what they are
drawing. Ask open ended questions about the drawing. Observe and comment on the
colors the children are using.
Middle:
The children might try to draw something specific. The teacher can prompt the children
to think of something they want to draw.

Later Extension:
The children will draw something specific and tell about it. The teacher can offer stencils
to the children or other art materials such as paint or paint sticks.

End of Activity
Wow this wall looks amazing and so colorful now. I think we should keep this up in the
classroom as a decoration for a bit and show it off. What do you all think? Should we keep it
here or move it to another part of the room?

Follow-up Ideas -
Painting or coloring paper that has been taped underneath a table.

Create figures with white model magic, let it dry, and have the children color them with markers
or paint them.
