Beginning of Activity
Opening statement
Today I thought we could move our bodies in some fun ways, let’s play a game of Simon
says. I am going to say a few ways to move your body that we have played before in
Simon says, then I will say some new ones. After that I want you to pick ways for us to
move our bodies.

Middle of Activity – (what will the children be doing/saying – how will you transition from
the teaching to the children doing – should read like a script but can be brief)
Early Extension:
Encourage children to move their bodies to the movements listed in Simon Says.
Children will move however they desire.

Middle:
Children will move based on the actions called out in Simon Says. Use actions for Simon
says such as “Make a happy face”, “Move like you’re a bird” or “Stretch like a cat.”

Later Extension:
Children will move based on the actions called out in Simon Says. Encourage children to
come up with their own ways to move their bodies.
End of Activity
End the game by saying “Simon Says pretend you’re asleep.”

Follow-up Ideas -
Have the children create movement cards to use during music and movement.

Repeat the game but have children come up with movements based on animals or other
well-known items before the game.
