SUBJECT INQUIRY PROPOSAL

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
 Work through this template providing detailed notes, written in full paragraphs in response to the
prompts and questions below.
 You do not have to reach the targeted word count as this is a plan and not the final inquiry report.
 Submit as one or two pages maximum.

INQUIRY QUESTION
Write out your inquiry question.

SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION
Why is your inquiry question interesting or important?
Which aspects of earlier units will you draw upon?
Which group of students will be the subject of your inquiry?
What is the school context of your inquiry? (Location, demographic, size etc.)

SECTION 2: LITERATURE REVIEW


Which areas of literature do you intend to use? (Assessment, pedagogy, teacher inquiry etc.)
List the specific articles which you intend to reference and explain how they relate to the inquiry.

SECTION 3: OVERVIEW OF PROCESS OF THE INQUIRY


Write a set of bullet points to show the separate stages of your inquiry.
Give the name of each stage and a brief description with critical reflection for choosing those stages.
You may need to refer to the inquiry cycle you annotated.

SECTION 4: ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS


List three ethical issues that may affect your inquiry.
For each issue, add a note describing how you will address it.

SECTION 5: FINDINGS
Clarify your plan for collecting your data and why you have chosen this method.
Clarify how you plan for analyzing these data.
SECTION 6: REFLECTIVE DISCUSSION
At this stage, what challenges do you foresee in your inquiry plans if implemented? (Consider the following:
students’ engagement, strategy implemented, school considerations, time...).
As a professional teacher in your career, what challenges do you anticipate facing when implementing inquiry?
How would you make this a regular part of your practice, so it informs your teaching?
